WHAT ARE CLUBS AND SOCIETIES?
Clubs and societies play an important role in your university
experience; they are here to provide you with a healthy balance
between study, rest, relaxation and fun while on campus. By becoming
a member of a club or society, you can gain valuable experience on a
committee whilst nurturing your social, personal and extra-curricular
development.
There are a broad range of clubs and societies at UTS for you to get
involved with; social, sport, cultural, religious, political, academic and
recreational. Being a part of a club or society enables you to connect
with other like-minded students, discover hidden talents and passions,
create professional networks and expand your horizons... so why not
join the fun!
HOW DOES ACTIVATEUTS SUPPORT CLUBS AND SOCIETIES?
ActivateUTS provides clubs and societies with a range of facilities
and services. The Theatre Lounge, The Underground Bar, The Loft Bar
and Harry Heath meeting rooms are all available for regular meetings
and social event bookings. Clubs and societies also have access to
administration support, equipment hire and locker space.
ActivateUTS additionally supports UTS clubs and societies through
funding. Almost half a million dollars in grants is offered to clubs
and societies for functions, merchandise, conferences, competitions,
productions and capital items.
HOW TO JOIN A CLUB OR SOCIETY
It’s easy! Simply visit ActivateUTS website at www.activateuts.com.au,
create a user account or login. Hover over “Social” then click on the
“ActivateClubs” tab.
Select the clubs you wish to join and click “Add to cart”.Click “My Cart”
to finalise your club membership payment. You will then receive an
email welcoming you to the club with all their details.
Alternatively, you can contact the club directly to arrange becoming a
member.
HOW TO REGISTER A CLUB OR SOCIETY
If you haven’t found a club or society that suits your needs and want to
enhance your overall uni experience, why not start your own!
Most affiliated clubs are fully-fledged clubs; they charge membership
fees, operate a bank account, have annual general meetings, a formally
elected executive committee, a constitution and are therefore eligible
for ActivateUTS grants.
An application for affiliating a club can be collected from the
ActivateHQ information desk in the ActivateMarketplace
(Building 1, Level 3) and must be sent to [email protected]
for consideration. For an application to be successful, the applying club
must be sufficiently different from any existing club.
