CPJ Field and Co surveyed people throughout the United Kingdom to find out what they wanted to accomplish more than anything else before they passed away.

We also found what they most wanted to leave to their children and family.

They told us what they most treasured as family heirlooms.

Population in the UK*

There are 63,181,775 people in the UK.

23.9% of the population is 19 or under. 34% of the population is 44 or under. 30.3 5 of the population is 69 or under. 11.8% of the population is over 70.

Life expectancy for is on average 79.91 years.

Women typically reach the age of 81.68 years.

What Made the List?

Those surveyed between the ages of 18 and 44 said that the things they’d most like to do before they die are: 64% said travel 37% said see children settled down 36% get married 33% said have children 28% said learn to speak a foreign language

What did Older People Say?

When people over 45 were asked the same question, they responded slightly differently to the younger group: 67% said they wanted to travel 33% wanted to see children settled down 25% wanted to learn to speak a foreign

language 22% said swim with dolphins 13% said visit Disneyworld

Family Heirlooms and Traditions

When asked which heirlooms and traditions were most meaningful and important when passed down, the group of 18-44 year olds responded as follows: 30% said that jewelry meant the most 29% chose art like photographs or

paintings 24% preferred to receive recipes 22% said special seasonal holiday traditions 17% wanted ornaments

When the over 45’s were asked to identify the most important things that they’d ever been given, they identified the following: 48% said art such as photographs or

paintings 40% said jewelery meant the most 38% said ornaments were special 27% valued home-making skills the most 23% were happy to have recipes

Those in the 18-44 category said that the following were the things that they were most likely going to pass down to their families: 37% jewelry 35% Photographs or paintings 22% Seasonal holiday traditions 22% Recipes 20% Property

Residents in the over 45 category highlighted the following as the things they’d pass down : 51% planned to give photographs or

paintings 44% said jewelery 34% would share property 32% said ornaments 18% wanted seasonal holiday traditions to

stay in the family
