Status of Women Canada will be offering an in-person informationsession at the Provincial Advisory Council on the Status ofWomen, 15 Hallett Crescent, Suite 103, in St. John’s onThursday, October 25 from 10 am to 12 pm.
The objective of the information session is to review the details ofthe current Call for Proposals (as outlined below) and to answerquestions you may have.
If you decide to join us at the information session, please confirmattendance by replying to: [email protected] byOctober 23rd, as there is a limited number of spaces available.
If you would like to discuss your potential projects in a one-on-onemeeting, please contact us to book a time for those discussions. Wecan certainly assist you via telephone and e-mail as well.

Right Here, Right Now: Free Drop-In Counselling Program forWomen Expands HoursDid you know the St. John’s Women’s Centre offers a freedrop-in counselling program to women in the metro area? As ofTuesday, October 2, 2018, program hours will expand. Newcounselling clinic hours are Tuesdays from 12-7 p.m. andWednesdays from 12-5 p.m.
The recently released program evaluation highlighted how the RightHere, Right Now (RHRN) drop-in counselling program has provided anecessary stop gap for women awaiting traditional mental healthservices within the region. 32 per cent of women who utilized theservice were on waitlists for “traditional†mental healthservices, with a mean wait time of 15.5 months. The average lengthof the RHRN service, from intake through the wait time and acompleted counselling session was 90 minutes.
Located at 170 Cashin Avenue Extension, the Women’s Centre isfully wheelchair accessible, has free parking, and is convenientlylocated close to several bus stops. Women are welcome to drop byon clinic days, no referral or appointment is necessary. For moreinformation, please contact our clinical team lead counsellor, DanaWarren at (709) 753-0220.

The Mental Health and Additions Program offers single session walk-in services. The service will be provided by our team of MentalHealth Clinicians, including Mental Health Social Workers, Nurses,and Addictions Counselors.
Single session therapy services are available on a first come, firstserved basis, for those who feel the need to speak to a mental healthclinician right away.
What can I expect?
You will meet with a mental health clinician for a single session(approximately 1 hour) to address a mental health and/or addictionsissue.
The following are some examples of what can be discusses:depression, anxiety, bullying coping, grief/loss, addictions,relationship issues and/or stress.
* Please not that this is not an emergency service. Individuals experiencing a mental health crisis should proceed to thenearest hospital or emergency department.
