Call to Confession
Silent Confession
Prayer of Confession
Leader One: Loving and merciful God, we thank you for the community in which you have placed us, for faithful friends with whom we walk this journey.
Leader Two: Yet, we confess that we fail to love as you love. We push aside those whom we believe are the least in your kingdom. We fail to see your kingdom in parables because we fail to see your kingdom in each other.
Leader One: Form in us a new vision of community in which we see you in the faces and stories of those we too quickly dismiss. We pray for the sake of your kingdom that is both among us and always ahead of us. In the name of your living word, Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.

First Scripture Lesson Ephesians 1:15-23
Anthem Jubilate Deo William Walton Sanctuary Choir Section Leaders (1902-1983)
O be joyful in the Lord, all ye lands: serve the Lord with gladness, and come before his presence with a song. Be ye sure that the Lord he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves. We are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. O go your way into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: Be thankful unto him, and speak good of his name. For the Lord is gracious, his mercy is everlasting: And his truth endureth from generation to generation. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost; As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be: world without end. Amen.
—Psalm 100

Sermon Rev. Christopher A. Henry
“When Did We See You?”"And the king will answer them, 'Truly I tell you, just as you did it to
one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me.'" (Matthew 25:40)

We Give Thanks to God
Moment of Silent Meditation
Affirmation of Faith from The Declaration of Barmen (1934) Rev. Karen L. Lang
The Christian Church is the community of believers in which, in Word and Sacrament, through the Holy Spirit, Jesus Christ acts in the present as Lord. With both its faith and its obedience, with both its message and its order, it has to testify in the midst of the sinful world, as the Church of pardoned sinners, that it belongs to him alone and lives and may live by his comfort and under his direction alone, in expectation of his appearing.
Invitation to Discipleship and Generosity
Offertory The Song of the Leaves of Life and the Water of Life (from Pilgrim’s Progress) R.V. Williams Blake Beckemeyer, tenor (1872-1958)
Unto him that overcometh shall be given of the Tree of Life which is in the midst of the paradise of God. On either side of the river groweth the Tree of Life, the Leaves of the Tree are for thy healing. In the midst of that fair city flows the river of Water of Life clear as crystal. Whoso will, let him take of the Water of Life freely. Whoso drinketh of this water shall never thirst. Take thou the Leaves of the Tree of Life. So shalt thou enter in through the gates of the city.
Prayers of the People and the Lord’s Prayer Kelly D. Spencer
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.
