PURPOSETo evaluate the impact on visual outcome of

Femtosecond LASIK flap complicationsRetrospective reviewCompared to uncomplicated Femtosecond

LASIK flaps

METHODSRetrospective case series

586 eyes of 293 patientsFour surgeonsAll femtosecond LASIK All surgeries at Joint Warfighter Refractive

Surgery Center at Lackland AFB, TXEndpoint at one monthETDRS testingData analysis using paired t-test

METHODSTypes of complications (no surgical

intervention required)Diffuse lamellar keratitisMicrostriae Flap tearsIncomplete side cutEpithelial ingrowth

Compared to uncomplicated femtosecond LASIK eyes

CONCLUSIONSNo statistically significant difference was

observed in BSCVA among the group of patients with abnormalities in their flaps compared to normals

The overall incidence of intraoperative complications in femtosecond laser flap creation is exceedingly low at 1.02% in this series

CONCLUSIONSThe overall incidence of postoperative flap

complications is low at 7.16% and ultimately visually insignificant

All patients, regardless of complication, had comparable post operative BSCVA to preoperative BSCVA
