When we rewrite a fraction as a decimal, are we
changing the value of the fraction?
In this lesson you will learn to rewrite a fraction as a decimal
by using division.

Extension Activities
Make a number line segment between 2 numbers like 3 and 4. Divide it into 2 segments.
Either you or a friend draw some marks on the number line. Determine what the position of the marks are using fractions. Then convert to decimals.
Extension Activities
Make 20 cards. On 10 of them write fractions and on the other 10 write the decimal equivalents.
Turn them over and mix them up. Arrange them in rows. Turn 2 cards over. If they are equivalent remove from the board. If not, put back and try again. Continue until all the cards are matched.
Extension Activities
Make 20 or more cards. On ten of them write fractions and on the other ten write the decimal equivalents. Mix up the cards.
Deal out 5 cards to you and a friend. Take turns asking each other for the matching card. If you have a fraction, ask for the decimal and vice versa.
If you make a match, lay it down on the table in front of you. If the other player doesn’t have the requested card, pick one up from the pile. Play continues until someone goes out. Whoever has the most pairs wins.
