elected Texas State Federation Secretary’s
Our Second Quarter meeting will be held before the Fair-Bees 58th Anniversary Dance. Saturday, May 16th. Location will be the Memorial Drive Christian Church on Memorial. District Directors will meet for 30 minutes starting at 4:00. This will be a very important meeting for the District Directors as they have multiple projects to attend to. General Assembly will be at 4:30 and will conclude at 5:30. The FairBees will commence the dining portion of their anniversary dance immediately after the general assembly.
We hope every club will attend as there are many impor-tant projects to consider and act upon.

Club ChatWhat is happening in your clubs?
Tomball Promenaders are so proud of our new dancers! We are honoring them with a half-way dance on April 9, at 7:30 in the evening. Lessons are lead by Pat Kotal, who will be calling for the half-way dance. Come join us for a wonderful night of dancing and fellowship.
Houston Area Camping Squares is celebrating their 40th Anniversary Dance with Tim Tyl and Martha Koslosky on April 11. There will be a bar-b-q dinner catered by Hinze’s at 5:30 p.m. (advanced reservation only). Katy Prairie Promenaders is holding their highly successful Rusty Hinges program. If you are a square dancer who has not danced for a while, or just want to get some extra floor time, this is your opportunity to refresh and perfect your dancing skills. Rusty Hinges is from 7:00 until 8:00 on Friday nights, before their regular dance.
Fairbees will be celebrating their 58th anniversary on May 16. Club is dark on May 14. HSRDC will hold their 2nd Quarterly meeting prior to the dance with District Directors meeting at 4:00 pm, regular meeting from 4:30 til 5:30. Fairbees will start serving their fabulous buffet dinner at 6:00. Everyone is welcome to attend the HSRDC meetings.

Dancing Across Texas….by Linda Edwards
Recently we went dancing in Lubbock for the weekend. We were attending the TSFSRD Conclave there. The Conclave meet-ing is where the Federation officers for the coming year are elected. Their term of office begins July 1st.
The Conclave is one of four meetings that the Texas State Federation of Square and Round Dancers (TSFSRD) hold around the state each year. One of the meetings is held during the Texas State Festival. The other three (Presidents, Nominat-ing and Conclave) are held over a weekend in different cities in Texas. They all have a similar format to the Conclave weekend that we attended in March.
Friday afternoon the West Texas dancers opened up a Hospitality Room to the danc-ers travelling into the area. Packets with area information were available here and also at the meeting on Saturday morning.
The Friday night dance was led by Call-ers and Cuers from the West Texas Callers and Teachers Association. The Saturday night dance featured Matt Barnes Calling and Lynn Myers on the Rounds. The TSF-SRD Merchandising Chair, Linda Carlile, brought dance inspired items to sell. We bought a great tote bag that sold out. They may have more at the State Festival. Snacks were available on both nights, including an After Party on Saturday night. Ice cream was served and the Past Presidents of TSFSRD
did a short skit. The newly elected Officers also led everyone in the Chicken Dance.
We had several Houston-area dancers in attendance, including Jerry Tucker, Bill & Kaye Lewis, Bill Jenkins, Sharon Green, Jerry & Linda Edwards, Clydette Osteen and Frank Hunter. I apologize if I forgot any-body.
Saturday morning was the TSFSRD Busi-ness Meeting. The Executive Committee was elected at this meeting. Jerry & Linda Edwards (us) were elected to the position of Secretary and became the newest members
of the Executive Committee.
We had meetings to at-tend in the afternoon, but Jerry Tucker went to the National Ranching Heritage Center. There are several
other museums in the area, in-cluding the Texas Air Museum and
the American Wind Power Center. We saw many windmills on the drive.
The Host Hotel was the Clarion Hotel, but we stayed at America’s Best Value Inn, along with several other dancers. They had a hot breakfast in the morning. It was usually scrambled eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy. And, of course, the waffle maker.
