ST. PIUS X CATHOLIC CHURCH LAFAYETTE

St. Pius X Catholic Church will be offering a six week program beginning Monday January 16th - February 20th from 6:30pm to 8:00pm at St. Pius X Church in the An-nex Building in Conference Room B. “Who among you if he has a hundred sheep and loses one of them does not leave the ninety-nine in the waste-land and follow the lost one until he finds it… I tell you there will likewise be more joy in heaven over one re-pentant sinner than over ninety-nine righteous people who have no need to repent.” Luke 15:4-7 Catholics Returning Home (CRH) is a six week support program assisting Catholics to return to the active prac-tice of their Faith. “Come to me all you who are weary and find life burdensome and I will refresh you.” Matthew 11:28 “In the name of Jesus, the Good Shepherd, I wish to make an appeal – an appeal to Catholics throughout the world…especially to those who for one reason or another are separated from the practice of their faith. Christ is seeking you out and inviting you back to the community of faith.” St John Paul II To Register or for more information: Call St. Pius X office: 232-4656 or Ashton Mouton, Evan-gelization Minister at 296-6713 or email: [email protected] or you may just show up.

Thanks to all! A sincere word of thanks to all who have assisted in our celebrations of the Christmas Season. The music which lifted our hearts in prayer by our music groups was deeply appreciated. Those who helped decorate the Church truly created a feast for the eyes. We needed extra liturgical ministers and you stepped forward. Thank you. Treats were brought to the parish office creating a feast for the stomach and the entire staff was grateful for the time and effort spent. We enjoyed receiving your cards and wishes for the Christmas Season and the New Year. Many of you took envelops off the giving tree and the gifts purchased brought joy to the hearts of those in need. Thanks to those who organized and de-livered the gifts. Christmas food baskets were prepared and delivered as well. Much of what went into the baskets you provided and our gratitude is extended to those who made and distributed the baskets. We love you.

T his Christmas, like every Christmas in

our parish, we honored the season with gifts of prayer, song, worship and service. Through the work of the Mission Club, 33 families were provided with good food for the Christmas holi-days, and 29 families were blessed with gifts to open on Christmas day. The Food Drive began in November when paper bags were made available after all Masses. Parishion-ers returned filled donation bags. Simultaneously, The Giving Tree program began, and parishioners who picked a tag from the tree purchased gifts for the per-son selected. Each present was beautifully wrapped and returned to the Parish Office. Just a few days before Christmas, members of the Mission Club, along with volunteers, sorted the gifts and made sure each person in need was remembered. The food was sorted and boxes were filled. All of the food and gifts were packed into cars, trucks and even a trailer, and delivered to fam-ilies in need. We honored the birth of our Lord, in the service of others, with joy, laughter and love just as our Lord gave His most precious gift to us when He was born on Christmas day.

PART III

"Every child a wanted child".

Prior to the legalization of abortion over 40 years ago, ad-vocates for abortion held out the panacea of the elimination of "unwanted children" if only abortion was legal. In fact, it was Planned Parenthood, which led this charge, coining the familiar slogan, "Every child a wanted child”. Despite the fact that some 57 million "unwanted" babies have died in the intervening period, the pro-choice lobby still uses this argument to justify abortion.

In the 1960' and 70's the pro-choice position was that le-galizing abortion would drastically reduce child abuse. America legalized abortion and during the next 40 plus years, child abuse has skyrocketed (from 167,000 cases in 1973 to 1,694,756 cases in 2002). Yet, despite this stag-gering increase in child abuse, the pro-choice lobby contin-ues to tie itself in knots by now arguing that making abor-tion illegal would cause an increase in child abuse!!! How many more millions of children do we have to kill before their scheme starts to work? We all agree that every child should be wanted. This is an idealistic goal, but sadly we do not live in an idyllic world. Wouldn't it also be a wonderful world if there were no un-wanted wives, no aging unwanted parents, no unwanted

Jews, blacks or Catholics or anyone else who is devalued or persecuted? Moreover, since when does anyone's right to live depend upon someone else wanting them? Women rightfully re-sent that the value of a woman is sometimes determined by whether a man wants her. How can anyone possibly insist that the value of an unborn baby is to be determined by whether a mother wants him or her at any given time? To use being wanted by someone as a measure of wheth-er a human life is allowed to live is a truly frightening con-cept. Its converse logically awaits us --- that the unwanted can be eliminated. Don't forget that Hitler's Germany was ideal for wanted Aryans. To make sense, the slogan: "Every child a wanted child" has to be completed "and if not wanted, aborted." To com-plete the sentence removes the mask from this misleading slogan and reveals it for the evil that it is! (Part 3 of a 5-part series article, continued from St. Pius X Bulletin, December 18, 2016. ) http://pro-lifearticles.org/
