Looking Forward Im sure that we are all looking forward to this Sunday when the Premier makes announcements about the return to a more normal life after Covid-19 restrictions are lifted. This includes the return to on-site learning at Eaglehawk North Primary School. The things announced on Sunday will be the broad picture thinking and the detail about a return to school will need to be worked out by the Department of Education next week. This can take a few days to hit my desk. As soon as we have details of what the foreseeable future looks like we will get it out to you. In the meantime I cannot emphasise enough about the need for all of our children to engage with the material that our staff have developed during the period of Remote Learning. Student Assessments Staff took the time to complete our usual assessments of children after our first period of Remote learning, and, in the main, those children and families who engaged with all the opportunities offered via our various platforms showed learning growth. Please make sure that in these last phases of Remote Learning, you continue to ensure that your child turns up to all class meets, guided reading, individual and group learning sessions provided by the teacher. New Path Way The path from Sailors Gully Hall to the school has been completed recently and Im looking forward to the commencement of our Ride, Scoot and Walk to School Fridays as soon as Covid-19 restrictions allow. Eaglehawk North School Captains Henry and Ava tested out the new path recently and gave it the thumbs up as a great way to get into active travel, to and from school.

Looking Forward

I’m sure that we are all looking forward to this Sunday when the Premier makes announcements about the return to a more normal life after Covid-19 restrictions are lifted.

Student Assessments

Staff took the time to complete our usual assessments of children after our first period of Remote learning, and, in the main, those children and families who engaged with all the opportunities offered via our various platforms showed learning growth.

Please make sure that in these last phases of Remote Learning, you continue to ensure that your child turns up to all class meets, guided reading, individual and group learning sessions provided by the teacher.

New Path Way

The path from Sailors Gully Hall to the school has been completed recently and I’m looking forward to the commencement of our Ride, Scoot and Walk to School Fridays as soon as Covid-19 restrictions allow. Eaglehawk North School Captains Henry and Ava tested out the new path recently and gave it the thumbs up as a great way to get into active travel, to and from school.

SCHOOL WIDE POSITIVE BEHAVIOUR SUPPORT PROGRAM RESPECT FOR Learning is the focus for our school value work this term. This means we positively

encourage students to do everything they can to be good learners. Each week a student is selected after

being nominated for the whole school weekly VALUE award.

And the lucky winners is:

KAITLYNN

For working hard during remote learning! Kaitlynn has

shown great persistence with both onsite and remote

learning!

REMOTE LEARNING 2.0 Our Specialist’s spend a huge amount of time preparing online tasks, hard packs and on site learning packs. They are working across three online platforms: Google Classroom, SeeSaw and Dojo but love every minute of it. They find they are receiving a lot more feedback and interaction with families during this unusual time. Keep up the great work! Remember: ‘We can only do, what we can do’. BREAKFAST CLUB UPDATE

Our food packs were very popular last week, so ……we have

more hampers wrapped up and ready to go! They will be

available at the drive through on Friday with pack pick ups.

Book Review

My good read for kids today is One Plastic Bag by Miranda Paul tells the inspiring story of Isatou Ceesay and the recycling women of Gambia. Isatou noticed the growing problem with plastic rubbish and came up with an inventive way to address the issue. One Plastic Bag is suitable for children in Years 3-6.

The National eSmart Week is 6-12 September 2020, and this year’s theme is

Connecting Safely.

WHAT NEXT!

Staff have been adding some ‘post it note art’ around the

school to cheer up our school environment in support of

our school Values – Respect for Others and Respect for

Self. Now the students have started! Gradually we have

more art work popping up around the school. What

talent!

Raising Learners provides parents with practical advice, tips and ideas for supporting children’s health, wellbeing and engagement at school and at home. Topics include how to connect with your child’s school and community, how to best support your child’s learning, what to expect for VCE and VCAL students and how to keep your child safe online.

These topics were drawn from common questions that parents raised with the Department’s coronavirus (COVID-19) hotline and Parentline.

The first three episodes will be available on 1 September, and the rest throughout terms 3 and 4. Raising Learners can be accessed via podcast apps and Raising Children Network website.

MUSIC DURING COVID-19

In the interest of keeping music alive during the Covid-19 crisis, DSE Music Tuition are giving access to a full term of both piano & guitar lessons - 100% FREE to every student across Victoria, no catch, no conditions.

My wife & I have watched our friends, family and students financially affected (to varying degrees) by Covid-19 and although we are suffering too, we wanted to contribute something joyful to students in our wonderful state. We have taken the decision to give away the complete first term of our beginner program of 10 x streamed vid-eo lessons in piano or guitar, completely free, no catch, no conditions. What people really need right now is something that costs nothing, is educational and entertaining, that can be done from the comfort and safety of your own home. We realised that we have that thing and whilst considera-ble cost and effort went into creating it, that gifting it may be a small way that we can positively contribute in a scary & difficult time. The lessons are streamed video lessons via our streaming platform, can be watched on any device (smart TV, desktop, laptop, tablet or phone) and include additional learning material (sheet music, audio files, etc). We want to stress, this is complete term or level of tuition, this is not half of a lesson then you hit a pay wall to see the rest. It is the first (or beginner) set of 10 lessons in piano or guitar, unrestricted in any way. If you can get your hands on a guitar, keyboard or piano (or even if you can’t), its all yours free… to everyone, everywhere. All that we ask is that you share the information with your schools families via Compass, See Saw or whatever your school uses. These lessons are appropriate and free for everyone regardless of age, gender or location. Eve-ryone deserves the gift of music! Join the fun. It’s FREE to Register!

At Camp Australia we have been Making Kids Smile for over 30 years. Each day before or after school, we

provide safe, meaningful and affordable care that help families balance life and work responsibilities.

Our Outside School Hours Care program is tailored to the individual needs and interests of children who

attend, so we can further their experiences and interests, and ensure they feel at home with us.

Registration is FREE!

To attend our care, families must register their child. Why? Registering your child means we have all the

information we need to safely care for them.

So, we recommend all families to register an account with us. That way, if you ever need us, you just have

to book a session, as we already have all the documentation we need from you.

What has been happening at Eaglehawk North- Camp Australia

This week has been book week and the children have enjoyed understanding riddles, doing puzzles and

making mazes with clues for children to read. This has been super fun and its been great to see so much

fun.

We look forward to seeing you and your family soon!

From the Team at Camp Australia

* If eligible, to help you with the cost of child care, you may be entitled to receive the Australian Government Child Care Subsidy.
