MIDDLE SCHOOL BASICSCalendar Our school calendar is posted on our website at www.whiteriver.wednet.edu. We encourage you to visit it anytime you are curious about upcoming events. Additionally we mail home our calendar of events in a welcome back letter at the beginning of the school year and in newsletters throughout the year. If you are not receiving these, please contact the school.

Class Changes Class changes will only be made prior to school starting for the year or at the semester (1/2 year) point. Class changes are not done to switch exploratory elective classes. Class changes are also not done because of friendship issues. It is expected that a student who is experiencing a problem in a class will try to resolve the issue with through the teacher, counselor and/or administration.

Computer and Network Use Students may access the district computer network and internet for the purpose of conducting research, completing written assignments, and preparing presentations. This use is limited to school appropriate educational purposes. Students using school computers are expected to comply with the district’s Network and Computer Use Policy, which is available on the district web site. Failure to do so will result in disciplinary action and loss of use privilege. Parents may prohibit their student from accessing the internet from school computers by completing an Internet Opt-Out Form.

Emergency Procedures Teachers will review with students the procedures for fire drill, earthquake drill, lockdown, and emergency evacuation. During any drill or emergency situation students are to remain with their teachers as they evacuate the building and when they are on the evacuation field. Students may reenter the building only after the reentry bell or direction from staff or administration.

School Late Start & Closure During weather emergencies, changes may occur in the school schedule. Tune into a local area radio station for the most current information. During any late start, we will always have students report to their first period class when their arrive. The following description on a radio or TV station means the following:

2-Hour Late Start School starts two hours later than the usual posted time.Students will be picked up at bus stops 2 hours later than the usual posted time.

School Closed NO SCHOOL – Listen to the radio for information for the next day or visit our website at www.whiteriver.wednet.edu.

* Fees may be paid together in one check made payable to White River Middle School.** An ASB card is required for all athletes in addition to the Athletic User Fee. *** Each sport is charged a separate fee.

1. ASB (Associated Student Body) cards support student activities and allow individuals to participate in activities for a lower cost. ANY student who is in extracurricular sports must purchase an ASB card (one per year) and pay the sport athletic fee (one per sport season).

2. Student planners are used each day to assist with student organization and parent communication about a child’s school day. These are required and students are expected to carry it with them each day.

3. Students with PE are required to wear a PE uniform daily during fitness class.4. Annuals provide students a snapshot of the school year. We need an accurate count when ordering student annuals so we

encourage early purchase by offering them cheaper earlier in the school year. Students actually receive the annuals at the end of the year.

5. Athletic User Fees for required for each sport. A $55 (per sport, all sports except football) athletic user fee for JV, Varsity and AIMS will be charged to each participant in order to help cover the costs of officials, transportation, equipment, and uniforms. Please note that user fees are not refundable after the first five days of practice. The $15 ASB card is required for all athletes, regardless of the team.

6. Elective material fees are assigned in some classes for consumable materials.7. Replacement fees are charged to students for lost or damaged books, materials, or equipment issued to a student. This

includes texts issued to students to keep at home. Book covers are suggested. It is expected that any materials assigned to students will receive usual and expected wear.

Grades, Progress Reports & Report Cards The middle school is on a quarter grading system, with nine weeks per quarter. There are four quarters in a school year and a report card will be mailed home for each quarter. Quarterly report card grades are official grades that go in each student’s file and are used to calculate the student’s grade point average (GPA). Each student’s current grade is also reflected online.

4

Communication of Grades Grades are communicated to families in several ways. We encourage parents to take advantage of these communication tools and contact the school any time there is a question or concern regarding their child’s performance. Family Access makes grades available to parents instantly and provides parents the option of having grades emailed to them. The user name and password are mailed to families upon entering middle school and may be obtained by contacting the school secretary. Progress reports may be sent home with students by teams every couple of weeks. Please see their team letter for a schedule. Official quarterly grades are mailed home in a report card each quarter. These grades are recorded in the student’s permanent file and are used to calculate the student’s GPA. Additionally, phone calls and conferences between teachers and parents are a frequent and encouraged form of communication.

Promotion Policy To be promoted to the next grade, a student must pass 80% of their classes. For example, if a student receives a grade for 6 classes each quarter and there are 4 quarters in the school year, then the student must pass 19 of 24 classes (80%) for promotion to the next grade level. Student who do not meet these requirements are eligible for retention in the same grade. Students on an Individual Education Plan (IEP) will be promoted based on demonstration of progress on the goals and objectives specific to them as stated in the IEP.

Guest Teachers Substitute teachers are guest professionals in our building. Student cooperation and good behavior is expected when a guest teacher is in the classroom. Guest teachers will leave a written report for teachers upon their return. Guest teachers may process students or assign a detention for minor misbehavior. Continued disruptive behavior, blatant disrespect, or defiance with a guest teacher will result in In-School Suspension (ISS).

Guests/ VisitorsWe encourage guests to visit our school. In the interest of student security, we ask that all visitors observe the following:1. All visitors on campus must check in through the office and obtain a visitor pass.2. Parents who wish to schedule a conference with a teacher or visit a classroom should make an appointment through the

teacher or office.3. Student visitors are not permitted at any time during school hours or at student activities, dances or field trips.

Health Room/ MedicationFor best response to a health or emergency situation, an emergency card must be on file for all students. If a student’s address or telephone number changes, please notify the office. To use the health room, students are asked to observe the following:1. Students need teacher permission to come to the health room when they feel ill.2. In the case of accidents or emergencies, the teacher and office need to be notified immediately.3. Students who are required to take medication during school need to have a doctor’s note on file in the health room,

including the completed form Authorization for Administration of Medication at School (available on the district website or at the school). The correct dosage and times must be stated on the container.

4. Students are expected to remain on campus until a parent or an authorized adult arrives to sign them out from the office.Meals Breakfast and lunch is offered at middle school. Students may pay cash or use their student ID number for pre-paid accounts.

Breakfast Breakfast is served between 7:45AM and 7:55AM. Students are allowed to enter the cafeteria starting at 7:40AM. Students are expected in their first class before the tardy bell at 8:00AM.

In addition to the daily menu item, students have a choice of four entrée lines. All entrée’s include salad bar, fruit and milk. There is also an a la carte line where students can choose snacks and various drinks. Lunches cost $2.85 (price subject to change). Reduced lunch ($.60) and free lunch are also available for students who qualify. Students may pay with cash or have money applied to their personal lunch account by cash, check or internet payment. Typically, students eat during the first 20 minutes of lunch, clean their table, and have the remaining 10 minutes to socialize or play games during

5

recreation time. Rules for the lunchroom and lunch recreation areas are included under the section of Student Rules, Expectations, and Consequences.

If your child will be riding the bus to school, it is highly recommended that s/he be allowed to do so on the first morning they will also be expected to ride the school bus home. If a student is brought to school in the morning without knowing which bus to ride home, it can be difficult at the end of the day for them to figure it out.

SCHOOL ACTIVITIESMiddle school offers a wide variety of events and activities during and after the school day. These may include in-school spirit assemblies, athletics, clubs, dances, or socials. Payment dates for some events must occur up to 5 days in advance due to the nature of the activity. Please watch for these.

Students may not leave the school grounds after school and then return to an event. Students attending an after school activity should make arrangements to be picked up immediately afterwards. Any student who is not picked up within 15 minutes of an after school event may lose the privilege of participating in the next after school event.

Participating in activities such as after school sports and events, spirit assemblies, dances, field trips, year-end activities, etc. are earned through good grades and positive behavior choices. Issues resulting from poor student choices may eliminate them from these privileges. Eligibility requirements are listed below.

Eligibility Requirements for Attending School Sponsored ActivitiesIn order to participate in any school activity, students must be currently enrolled at this middle school, meet behavioral and academic standards, and be present during the entire school day of the scheduled event. The following are situations that may cause loss of eligibility to attend an event:

1. Students receiving a failing grade;2. Students demonstrating A PATTERN of disruptive behavior and office referrals (as determined through review and

determination by the school’s disciplinary committee);3. Students who receive an in-school or out-of-school suspension prior to the event.

Please note: Students serving in-school or out-of-school suspension are NOT permitted to attend or participate in any after school activities during the time of suspension, including athletic practices and events. Students serving PM Detentions or Friday Schools are not permitted to attend events scheduled in the same afternoon. Suspensions, PM Detentions and Friday Schools will not be rescheduled to accommodate events.

Assemblies The middle school conducts a variety of assemblies throughout the school year. Assemblies may be informational, academic, cultural, spirit, recognition or reward focused. Students are expected to enter the gym calmly and quietly, be good listeners, take part in activities, and show respect to speakers, performers and guests. Participation in assemblies is a privilege. Any student who is removed from an assembly for misbehavior may lose the opportunity to participate in future assemblies.

7

Athletics/ Clubs7th and 8th grade students may participate in the middle school sports program. White River School District’s middle schools have a no-cut sports policy. Students are selected for varsity, junior varsity, and developmental teams based upon their skill abilities. Varsity and junior varsity teams focus on utilizing and building athletic skills through competition. Developmental teams focus on skill building and growth in athletic ability. Participation, skill building, sportsmanship, and teamwork are stressed in all our athletic programs. 6th grade students interested in sports may participate in the White River Community Activities Program (CAP). This is an excellent opportunity for 6th graders to develop or practice basic skills in many of the sports that will be available to them as 7th and 8th graders.

Five sports are offered for 7th/8th grade boys and 7th/8th grade girls:

FALL SEASON(September)

EARLY WINTER SEASON(November)

LATE WINTER SEASON(January)

SPRING SEASON(April)

BOYS (7/8) TrackBaseball

Wrestling BasketballKnowledge Bowl

Football

GIRLS (7/8) TrackFastpitch

Basketball SoccerKnowledge Bowl

Volleyball

Every student who wishes to participate in a sport must meet several requirements. To be eligible for middle school sports, each student must:1. Purchase an ASB card.2. Pay the athletic fee relative to their chosen sport(s) (Non-refundable after first 3 days of practice for each sport).3. Have a current completed athletic participation forms on file which include athletic eligibility info, statement of current

medical/dental insurance coverage, assumption of risk, a current physical exam signed by your medical doctor prior to turn out and throughout the sport, and emergency information.

4. Be in school all day in order to be eligible to compete.5. Pass all classes and maintain a 2.0 GPA in order to participate in games. Students with one or more failing grades will be

allowed to participate in practice, but cannot play in a scheduled game or travel to away games and will have two weeks to show improvement. Failure to do so may result in removal from the team. Students who show improvement will be on academic probation with grade checks every two weeks, to ensure that they are maintaining passing grades.

6. Collect and turn-in make-up work if they have to leave class early because of a game.7. Make arrangements to be picked-up immediately after practices/events; students who are picked up more than 30

minutes late on more than one occasion may lose the opportunity to participate in sports for that season. Additionally, students serving in-school suspension or out-of-school suspensions are not permitted to attend or participate in after school activities including practices and athletic events.

All sports typically have Varsity and JV traveling teams. Most sports also have an AIMS (Activities and Intramurals in the Middle School) team that is mostly developmental. AIMS teams allow all students to build skills and participate in the sport.

An athletic user fee for AIMS, JV and Varsity teams will be charged to each participant in order to help cover the increased costs of officials, transportation, supervision, equipment and uniforms. Because of recent changes in safety laws requiring football equipment to be inspected yearly, the football user fee is typically higher than the user fee for other sports. Please note that user fees are not refundable after the first three days of turnout for each sport. The ASB card is also required for all athletes and academic team members.

Dances/ Socials The middle school typically holds social events for students during each school year. Most of these events occur at the end of the school day or immediately after school. To attend, students must meet the eligibility requirements as listed under Eligibility Requirements for Attending School Sponsored Activities and be a student of Glacier Middle School. Off-campus guests are not allowed to attend. Students must also be picked up immediately following the event. Dances or socials are not ‘date’ events. The expected attire is casual (what one would typically wear to school).

8

Dances are held 2-4 times during the year for 7th and 8th graders. Socials are held 2-4 times during the year for 6th graders. At the end of the year, 6th graders will have opportunity to participate in a “moving up” dance in which only 6th and 7th graders attend. Similarly, 8th graders will have a separate “moving up” dance. The 8th grade dance is open to all students of WRHS feeder schools. Chaperone(s) are provided by each school represented. Students may dress up for the 8th grade “moving up” dance, but it is not a formal dance or prom. Tuxedos, formal gowns, limousines and flowers are not recommended. It is especially important to note that on the 8th grade dance, students must not leave the school campus, even for a portion of the day, and then return later to attend the dance.

Field Trips Field trips are offered to students both as part of academic enrichment opportunities and in celebration of successful student choices. The procedures for field trips are as follows: 1. Parent permission slips must be signed and turned in ONE WEEK BEFORE the field trip.2. Fees and/or admission charges must be paid ONE WEEK BEFORE the field trip.3. PLEASE BRING PERMISSION SLIP AND FEES TO THE FRONT OFFICE.4. Field trip fees and admission charges are non-refundable. The cost of field trips is based on the number of students

who pay. Therefore, we cannot issue refunds for field trips unless the field trip is cancelled. **Depending on the nature of the field trip there may be additional admission charges.

5. Students must meet team and school eligibility requirements in order to attend. Students who are ineligible to attend are still expected to attend school on the day of the field trip and will be provided with an alternate assignment.

Academic Field TripsAll students are expected to participate, as these are part of the school curriculum. Students with a history of behavioral issues or office referrals may lose the privilege to attend.

Social/Enrichment Activity Field TripsAll students are encouraged to participate. Students with any F grades during the assigned quarter will not be allowed to attend, a study hall will be provided in place of the field trip to assist students in completing missing work. Students with a history of behavioral issues or office referrals may lose the privilege to attend.

Year-End Events Year-end grade level events such as field trips and dances are student celebrations for a great school year. Circumstances that could cause a student to become ineligible to attend year-end celebration events include the following:

1) Any full day in-school or out-of-school suspension2) A pattern of disruptive behavior and office referrals (to be determined by school’s disciplinary committee)3) Failing grades (impacts school-day field trips only)

Students with any full day of in-school or out-of-school suspension during the 4th quarter will not be allowed to attend the first year-end event, whether during or after school. Students with any in-school or out-of-school suspensions are not allowed to attend the year-end dance. A 2nd suspension during the 4th quarter will eliminate any remaining year-end events. A PATTERN of disruptive behavior and office referrals may also eliminate year-end events through review and determination by the school’s disciplinary committee. Additionally, students with a failing grade at 3rd quarter or any point thereafter will not be allowed to participate in the next school-day field trip or celebration activity. A study hall will be provided in place of the field trip to assist students in completing missing work. If the student can demonstrate that they are passing at least ONE WEEK PRIOR to the event, their status may be reconsidered for eligibility.

STUDENT RECOGNITIONThe middle school believes in encouraging, recognizing, and rewarding proper attitudes, behaviors, academics, and accomplishments. As a result, students have several avenues through which they can be recognized for their accomplishments.

REACH for the Stars The White River School District is committed to providing a safe and civil environment for all students to learn in. The acronym REACH stand for what we expect from students in order to achieve this: Respect, Excellence, Achievement,

9

Caring, and Honor. Students have the opportunity to be recognized by the Glacier Middle School staff in all of these areas through the use of green REACH cards. Any student who receives a card has the opportunity to participate in special incentives, such as early dismissal for lunch and quarterly prize drawings.

STAR Awards At the end of each quarter, students who make honor roll are recognized at a program called the STAR awards. STAR stands for Student Talent and Academic Recognition. Students are presented with certificates and other tokens of recognition such as pins or pens. Performances by selected students also highlight this event.

Team Recognition Each team has developed its own Student Recognition Program. Teams share their criteria, expectations, rewards and monitoring systems with students at the beginning of each year.

STUDENT SUPPORTMiddle school offers a wide range of support for students. Several are listed below. If you don’t know whom to contact about an issue, feel free to call the office. They will direct the call to a counselor, teacher, nurse, or administrator as appropriate.

Counseling Our school counselor is here to help students with concerns. Students in middle school are in a developmental period of their lives where they are learning a tremendous amount about themselves in many areas, including how they relate to others. This can be a very stressful time as they learn more about how to manage social relationships. In this process, it is very natural to experience some degree of conflict with others, as the student is experimenting with their identity, and where they belong in their own particular social setting. To assist students in this discovery process, the counselor can meet with students who are experiencing conflict and help them with the steps to learn how to resolve their conflict themselves. The counselor has also trained a group of students, called Peer Mediators, who have received specialized instruction and practice in helping other students resolve conflict. These Peer Mediators also meet with students in order to help teach this process of conflict resolution. These are resources that the student can access in the initial steps to resolve conflict. If the student is not able to resolve their conflict using these resources, administrative assistance is available.

Students can request a counselor visit by stopping by the office before school or during lunch to complete a written request form for an appointment. The counselor will send for the student at an appropriate time. Parents can also request a meeting; however, it is appreciated if they call ahead to schedule, as our counselor is busy meeting with students during school hours.

Family Access Parents can look at their child’s grades, assignments, and learn about any missing assignments by logging on to Family Access. Log-in and password information will be provided in September. If you are not on-line at home, you may also access this site from any other computer that is on-line including at the library. You can also access teacher and office web pages through the GMS website. Teacher web pages often have assignment lists or copies of assignments attached to them.

Parent Meetings & Support We schedule meetings throughout the year with parents, teachers, and students to focus on student needs and achievement. If you would like to meet with your child’s team teachers, please call or email one of them directly. If you would like to meet with all of your child’s teachers, please call the office to schedule a meeting. We request that your child also attend these meetings, as they are much more effective with him or her present.

Our counselors, administrators, and teachers are very familiar with middle school students and their various needs and development issues. Please feel free to call or email any of them if you feel like you need help. (Email addresses are available through our district website.) The middle school years can be a challenging time!

10

Special Education/ Resource Room For students who qualify, we have a variety of resource room and/or special education avenues available depending on the specific needs of your child. Please call your child’s current case manager and/or the school psychologist for specific questions. For general questions, please call the office.

Student Planners GMS student planners (available in the office) are a tool designed to help students organize their time, keep track of assignments and homework, and balance their workload. Students must have their planner with them every day and keep it updated. They are used to help students organize their time, keep track of homework and assignments, and balance their workload. It also serves as their hall pass to be out of class with their teacher’s approval.

The planner is also a way to communicate with parents and keep them informed about schoolwork. Students will be taught how to properly fill in the activity information of the day. Students will be writing down their daily activities. There should not be any blanks on the calendar for a class. Also look for HW. This is the indicator that your student has something specific to complete as homework. Students should check off when HW is completed. It is encouraged that parents who wish to track their student's progress refer to the planner frequently and check Family Access every week. Additional agreements may be made with individual teachers.

Current grades or copies of a progress report are available upon parental request. It is requested that if special agreements are reached, parents initial the planner indicating that they have received the information.

Teaming Teaming is a key component of our middle school program. A team consists of a small group of teachers who oversee the educational program for each student. Teachers on the same team share the same group of students, have the same schedule, and represent more than one subject area. Together, they make professional choices about the welfare of each student, coordinate their curriculum, and provide a communication base for parents. This environment provides students consistency and structure in their learning experiences, a safety net for catching students experiencing difficulty in academics or behavior, and deliberate relevancy between the content of their classes and real world applications. Parents are provided consistency in communication and expectations from teachers, a direct line through any team teacher to all teachers on the team, and team support for their children’s educational experience.

WEB – “Where Everyone Belongs!”WEB leaders are 8th graders selected by teachers to provide support for incoming 6th and 7th graders. WEB leaders will assist new students by showing them around the school, answering questions, and providing support throughout the year.

STUDENT RULES, EXPECTATIONS & DISCIPLINEMaintaining safety and structure for a productive learning environment is an important responsibility of the school. As a result, the following rules, expectations and consequences are in place. Students and parents can expect these to be in effect from the time students arrive on campus to the time they leave. After school, students are expected to leave campus immediately. If a student is staying for a scheduled event, they are expected to be in the location of the event. Students waiting to be picked-up must be in front of the school between the office and library. Students who are on campus afterschool with their parents are released to the supervision of their parents and asked to please honor the school as a community location. We ask that no food or drink (except water) be used in our gyms during afterschool or community events.

Attendance & Tardy Policy Good attendance is critical for student success at school. Unexcused absences will follow state mandatory attendance guidelines for referral to the prosecuting attorney. Students are expected to arrive on time, with proper materials and ready to begin. Attendance will be taken by each the teacher during every class period.

Students who arrive after 8:00 AM must report to the office for an admit slip to class. Students who are absent or late will need their parent to contact the office or send a written note within 24 hours of the student’s return to school. Parents wishing to take students out of school early must pick them up in the office where they will be signed out. Parents will be contacted when students are not at school if no information has been received from the parent regarding the absence or tardy.

11

It is the student’s responsibility to request make-up work from absences. When make-up work is requested, the student must be absent at least 2 days. This request must be made in a timely manner; teachers need at least 24 hours to complete the request and return it to the office. Each team has expectations for completion of missing work.

Excused reasons for being late or absent are defined by the state and include reasons such as illness, medical/dental or court appointments, religious holidays, and authorized family needs. Unexcused reasons for being late or absent include reasons such as sleeping in, missing the bus, car trouble, babysitting a younger sibling, etc. Students with unexcused or excessive excused tardies and/or absences are assigned consequences. These are as follows:Students with three late arrivals in a given quarter will earn 2 lunch detentions.Students with four or more late arrivals in a given quarter will earn an afterschool detention.Students with excessive tardies or absences (excused or unexcused) are considered truant by the State of Washington. Such

unexcused absence cases will be filed under the BECCA Bill to Pierce County Prosecuting Attorney's Office.

Planned AbsenceTo support planned student and family experiences outside of school, a planned absence may be arranged. To request and qualify for a planned absence, the criteria below must be met:A planned absence form (obtained through the office) must be completed that verifies the student’s eligibility (below). The planned absence form must be received in the office at least 3 days in advance of the planned absence. The student must not have any unexcused absences or tardies. The student must be earning at least a C in all classes and receive endorsement from each teacher. The student must complete and return all make-up work on time; it is the responsibility of the student/parent to obtain this

work prior to or following the absence; students will typically be allowed one day of make-up per one day of absence unless the team make-up work policy specifies otherwise.

Absences from a planned absence will be counted as excused if all make-up work is turned in on time. If the make-up work is not completed on time, the absence will be recorded as a ‘planned absence’ in your child’s attendance profile and future planned absences will not be considered for approval.

Classroom Expectations & Policies Each team has an established set of expectations for their classrooms. This includes expectations for behavior, late work, etc. At the beginning of the year, teachers will review this policy with students and send a copy home with each student for parents to also review.

Loss of Privileges When students meet what is expected of them both academically and behaviorally, they earn the privilege of choosing their table during lunch, participating in spirit assemblies, field trips, year-end activities, after school sports and events, dances, socials, etc. Student issues resulting from poor student choices may eliminate them from these privileges. Such issues may include failing grades, patterns of disruptive behavior or office referrals, in-school or out-of-school suspensions, etc. More specific criteria for student eligibility to attend year-end activities/field trips are included in the Student Activities section.

This includes cell phones, music players, headsets, CD’s, IPods, Game Boys, Nintendo DS, etc. Cameras may only be used with permission of the supervising staff. Additionally, the school or district is not responsible for unauthorized or confiscated items or cell phones that are brought to school and become lost, damaged, or stolen. It is the responsibility of the student to not bring the items to school. If a student is discovered using a cell phone during school hours without adult permission, the following discipline will be administered:

1st Offense – Phone confiscated, warning, parent must pick up2nd Offense – Phone confiscated, Friday School, parent must pick up3rd Offense – Phone confiscated, in-school suspension, parent must pick up

*** Cheating on tests or assignments is a violation of school rules/expectations and will result in no credit given and progressive disciplinary consequences.

AssembliesThe middle schools conduct a variety of assemblies throughout the school year. Assemblies may be informational, academic, cultural, spirit, recognition or reward focused. Students are expected to enter the gym calmly and quietly, be good listeners, take part in assembly activities, and show respect to speakers, performers and guests. Participation in assemblies is a privilege. Any student who is removed from an assembly for misbehavior may lose the opportunity to participate in future assemblies.

Common AreasWhile in school common areas, students are expected to keep walkways clear for other people, be considerate of others passing by and, when the warning bell rings, walk immediately and directly to class.

Guest TeachersSubstitute teachers are guest professionals in our building. Student cooperation and good behavior is expected when a guest teacher is in the classroom. Guest teachers will leave a written report for teachers upon their return. If a student is reported as causing a disruption during class, the guest teacher may choose to process (time-out) the student or that student may be assigned a detention. Students who display continued disruptive behavior, blatant disrespect or defiance will be assigned in-school suspension (ISS).

HallwaysWhen passing in the hallways, students are expected to walk directly to their destination without stopping or detouring, be respectful of classes in session, and, when passing during their own class, sign-out and in of the class and have their hall pass (planner) visible at all times.

Student Phone UseStudents are expected to ask permission to use a school phone. Cell phones are only permitted upon completion and approval of the Communication Device Clearance Form. This form may be obtained from the secretary. At no time should any electronic device interfere with classroom instruction or the educational process at school. Cell phones must remain turned off and out-of-sight until 2:35PM. Violation of these expectations or the criteria established in the Communication Device Clearance Form will result in these privileges being revoked.
