“Stag”– Grow antlers in late
spring– Can weigh 130 to
300 pounds– Assert dominance by
ramming other males with their antlers and fighting for a female
• Female– Called a
“Doe”– Can weigh 90
to 200 pounds– Does not
grow antlers
WINTER• In winter deer form
large herds.
• Winter is also mating season for the white tail deer.
• In winter their reddish brown fur changes to a light grey-brown color.
