This was a great community event and so much fun to be part of the magic of the illuminated parade! Congratulations to Mrs Toni Stritzke for engineering our artistic endeavours and for coordinating our school’s participation – a top job! It was lovely to see so many families and children continue the festivities of the weekend with attendance at Palm Sunday Masses. The little donkey that led us into the church during this most Holy Week in the Church calendar was certainly a hit with all, especially the children. Please find attached to this newsletter, information about the Easter Triduum which begins with the Mass of the Lord’s Supper on Holy Thursday. Our children’s school Easter Liturgy will take place this Thursday in the Church at 11.00am. A group of students will be participating in prayer through Liturgical Dance as the Year 6 students explain the meaning of Easter through the ‘Story of the Three Trees'. We would love to share this experience with you and warmly welcome family and friends to attend. Thank you to all families for donating Easter eggs and to the P&F for co-ordinating prizes and the raffle. A top effort by all involved - congratulations to all winners! Congratulations also to class 4G for their Stop Bullying assembly on Friday. An outstanding performance by all involved. We wish our Year 4 teacher, Mr Andrew Balding, and his fiancé, Leah, every happy blessing for their wedding this coming Saturday. Congratulations on your special day Andrew. Best wishes for a happy and holy Easter and may the joy of this Easter season bring much light and good-will to your homes and to all we meet. Resurrection Lord, today I experienced the resurrection many times:

when I lost my keys, but found them; when I spoke to my child for bad behaviour, and later saw a better side;

when I couldn’t bear to hear the word ‘meeting’ one more time, yet discovered an insight from attending one;

when I resented my marking load, then saw a good effort from a student which I least expected;

when I prayed there would be no more interruptions to my day And for a short time……..there weren’t any;

when I felt I could give no more of myself, yet managed to give some more.

Lord, the resurrection means more than coming back from the dead:

It is having faith in each tomorrow ………. and tomorrow…….and tomorrow.

Amen

INTERSCHOOL SWIMMING COMPETITION Congratulations to Mr D’Adamo and the Interschool Swimming team who came third in today’s Interschool Swimming Carnival. Well done on some personal bests and a great team effort!!

SCHOOL SECURITY As we are all aware, the security of our school environment is important in, not only ensuring student and staff safety, but also protecting our school property. With the ever-increasing cost of new technologies, grounds equipment and school resources, the continued risk of burglary and vandalism has been considered by the School Board. In light of a number of break-ins, vandalism and the openness of our school grounds, the School Board is planning to increase security around the perimeter of the school buildings, bus shed, sports shed, courtyard areas and school entrances with CCTV technology. Hopefully this targeted and advertised surveillance will help to decrease the risk of future anti-social behaviours around the school. ENVIRONMENTAL NEWS We thank the Tang Nian family for donating a Tumbleweed Worm Farm to the school. This is a great opportunity for our children to start thinking about composting and using mother nature’s unique natural recyclers to convert our food waste into nutrient rich fertiliser. We look forward to starting this after Easter. DONATION Last Friday the grandparents of Jarrad and Nathan Capolingua who come from Sydney, visited our school and attended our assembly, commenting on what a great school we have and donating $100 toward the school purchasing another microphone for use at our assemblies. Many thanks for your kind donation. It is very much appreciated. Holy Thursday Evening Mass of the Lord’s Supper: The triduum of Easter begins Thursday with this beautiful liturgy that is particularly pertinent to those children making their First Communion this year. During the Mass our priests enact Jesus’ last actions in the Washing of the Feet and the Institution of the Eucharist. Everyone wears white and this solemn occasion is the perfect start to our three days to the Resurrection. Join us for this very moving experience. Kids of Mercy: The ladies are so excited about joining us for our Easter liturgy this week. It will make up for missing our visit on Good Friday. It is essential that you come to the office straight after the second bell as waiting for you means that the ladies have to wait too. Enrolment slips can be obtained from the office or library. Next week, Week 9, Friday 1st April the children attending are: Anna Wintle 1B, Charlie Lihou 1B, Tayla O’Hanlon 1B, Luca Pagano 1G, Reuben Pagano 1W, Caitlin Yek 2B, Stella Pagano 3B, Jarrod Ferris 3W, Tobee Witheridge 3W, Kayah Swiatopelk-Mirski-Smith 5B, Tristan Robert 4B, Xavier Robert 5G, Mia Libardi 5G and Sophie Rigney 6G. LIBRARY NEWS Harmony Week: Last week in the library we shared books that focus on cultural diversity and the plight of refugees. We discussed how people from other countries bring a wealth of experience and diversity that enriches the Australian culture. Come and see Mrs Gee’s beautiful display and a good website to explore is http://www.harmony.gov.au/schools/students/young-australians-talk/ Stars of Book Return Making History: Congratulations to 4B, PPG and 5B. They are St Jerome Award winners and are all in the running for the jelly snakes. Keep up the great work. It’s going to be a very competitive raffle this term. This week: What was the Jewish feast which was being celebrated the week Christ was crucified? See you in the Library St Jerome, pray for us Mrs Annette Lynch TEACHER/LIBRARIAN
