Biblical Worldview

◦ More confident as a student and servant of my patients.◦ Stronger follower of God.◦ Greater understanding of my purpose to not only serve people,

but to advocate for their needs to other healthcare professionals.◦ I am a promoter of my patients' safety, well being, and fulfillment

of their needs.

Trisha - Personal Growth

◦Matthew 7:12 "So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and Prophets." (ESV)◦ Servant of God's people◦ Caregiver of the community◦ Provider of compassion and understanding to those I serve.

◦ 1 John 4:7 "Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. (ESV)◦ All people are born and created with God's love◦ As a nurse, God's love is shown through my kindness and care of my

patients' needs.

Page 3: Who Am I Now Presentation

Humanbecoming Theory◦ Principle of meaning states that people structure their own

meaning based on the past, present and future experiences. ◦ I have grown as a person, follower of God and caregiver to my

patients.◦ I am more aware of the impact of the nursing profession in

patient's lives and the lives of their families. ◦ As a nurse, I can make a difference in people's lives and be their

motivator in their recovery process.

My Artistic Depiction◦ As a 1st semester nursing student I was a seed.

◦ Had little knowledge of the impact I have on my patients.◦ I was reserved and quiet, unlike the rest of my cohort.◦ Was a believer, but not the strong believer I am now.

◦ In my last semester as a nursing student I am a flower.◦ I am now a strong advocate for my patients, a collaborative member of the healthcare team, and I am not afraid to

speak up when my patient's needs are not met.◦ I am a strong follower of Christ and I am a servant of his people.◦ I now understand the true meaning of "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" for I am a Nurse

who cares for families, communities, and those who have no other person to confide in. ◦ As a Registered Nurse, I will be compassionate, understanding, and continue to be a strong believer of Christ and

enforcer of my patient's rights.◦ I will be a nurse who authentically cares for the needs of my patients, and serve them in the best way I

can as their provider and caregiver.

Jen – Who I Am Now• Several moments of fear have turned into learning experiences which

have helped me grow.• Laugh at myself knowing that I cannot always be hard on myself; which

remind me of the learning experience• Resilient in the face of chaos. • Empathetic, open-minded, open heart and accommodating• I am still in process

Biblical Worldview• John 15:12 “ This is my commandment that you love one another as I

have loved you.”• > Everyone is different but should be regarded with respect and

compassion• > Cannot judge who I care for, treat everyone the way I would want to

be treated.• James 1:2-3 “Consider it pure joy, whenever you face trails of

many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.”• > Nursing is never easy, you only get stronger.• > Being faithful to God and persevering shows the love for his

people.

Humanbecoming Theory “Humans are actively participate in the unfolding of their lives. They are like authors, and their lives are like unfinished novels. Humans are free to choose in situations as they weave the tapestries of their lives.”◦ Chose to become a nurse to provide everyone with the same exceptional

care. This journey has now been woven into my tapestry of life.◦ Tending to patients and actively listening to their goals will assist the

patients in writing their life stories and living how they want to live life.◦ Patients are in control of their state of health. I am only contributing to

their well being. My Artistic DepictionYarn in the art of knitting• First Semester- beginning the journey and hesitant of was yet to come

> Naive and nervous> Unsure of myself and my own skill> Afraid to ask questions

• Last Semester- I am finished yet still in process> Mastered skills and techniques and have become confident> More assertive and have courage to ask questions> Someone once said, “Nursing is a life long journey of learning and

growth”

Humanbecoming ◦ Patient Centered Care

◦ It has taught me how to truly care for my patient and the impact you make as a nurse

◦ It has helped me to grow by learning what it means to listen to the patient and be able to help them work towards their optimal level of health

Artistic Depiction◦ Song: Well done by Moriah Peters

◦ I'm taking a risk and leaving it all, Not knowing what I'll go through, But I'm not alone As long as I follow You So when my life's a leap of faith, I can hear You say, Well done, well done I'm gonna chase You, Lord, I'm gonna show the world Your love, whoa, I'll run, I'll run, I'm gonna run this race, To hear You say well done

Steven - Personal Growth As A Nursing StudentI have acquired…

Understanding the patient as a whole and not just a diagnosis through the use of bonding.

Ability to adapt to stressful situations in order to achieve a greater goal in which to better serve others.

Experience, confidence and knowledge can be applied in many more situations and through mistakes I have learned how to save the lives of others.

Page 9: Who Am I Now Presentation

Biblical Worldview• Ecclesiastes 3:1 - For everything

there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven• There was a calling for me to

come into this field of practice at a specific time in my life

• Everything happens for a reason and God gives you the tools to pave the road you were called to take.

• Galatians 6:2 - Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. • Our job as nurses are to share

the burdens of our patients to seek a greater health.

Page 10: Who Am I Now Presentation

Humanbecoming• Seeing and treating a patient as a

holistic encounter rather than just a diagnosis.

• Including the family and patient in the plan of care

• Implementing theoretical nursing knowledge to promote a better quality of life for our patients.

Page 11: Who Am I Now Presentation

Artistic Expression• I am a blank open book

• Without knowledge, I am of no use to anyone.

• I have no experience or stories to teach from.

• There is plenty of room to improve my knowledge and further myself to become full of wisdom.

• I am an open book• I have experienced events that

knowledge can only describe.• These events have been

transcribed into me forever.• Others can use me to learn from

my stories.

Zac - Personal Growth As A Student To New Graduate◦ I’ve gained a great deal of confidence in myself and as a nurse from the start of the program to

now.◦ Throughout the program I have worked on finding my faith and establishing a relationship with

god and now have a stronger relationship with god and have grown as a person and father.

◦ My understanding of the depth and impact nursing has is much greater now. I have learned my role in patient care and the responsibility that lies in my hands.

Biblical World View2 Chronicles 15-7 • Be ye strong therefore, and let not your hands be weak: for

your work shall be rewarded.

• This particular verse reminds me that god is always behind me, he always will strengthen me and all my work will be in his name.

1Peter 5:7• Casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.• This verse was big for me, especially due to the stress and

growth we all went through to make it this far, knowing we have god’s support was vital in making it to graduation and succeeding as a nurse in the future.

Page 13: Who Am I Now Presentation

Humanbecoming◦During my first semester Humanbecoming didn’t quite

make sense to me.◦Now however I continue to use examples such as true

presence and viewing my patients as multidimensional beings to further my care with my patients.

◦True presence allows me to give quality, meaningful care and be in the shoes of my patient. Understanding what your patient is going through is vital to giving the best care possible.

◦Viewing my patient as a multidimensional being I feel is the thing I have taken the most from in Humanbecoming. It’s a reminder to always treat your patients as more than just a biological problem, but to remember to treat their spiritual, and psychosocial needs. It will allow me to carry forward with complete and competent care.

Artistic Depiction1st Semester◦When I first started I was excited, nervous, scared and

overhwhelmed. ◦ I talked about how I was an adrenaline junkie (still am),

Snowboarder (still am), and father (he’s 4 ½ how).◦ I was confident, but ready to move past the basic skill set

of an EMT.Now◦ I’ve found my calling as an ER/Trauma nurse.◦My skill set as a BSN-RN is vast and there is a world of

knowledge I've yet to learn.◦Fighting through a torn ACL and knee surgery mid

program has brought my health and weight into a great focus and now my exercise routine is better than it has ever been.

◦My son is still my world and will be at my graduation knowing his dad is a nurse. :))
