At a glanceBreaking down disciplinary and geographical borders, our programs offer the-oretically and methodologically based training in the history of Eastern, Cen-tral and Western Europe; the Eastern Mediterranean; the Middle East; and Central Asia. Guided by faculty from over 16 countries, students can closely ex-amine the Habsburg, Romanov and Ottoman Empires and their legacies, aswell as 20th-century totalitarian regimes through the lens of religious, cultural,intellectual and social history. They will also benefit from our innovative ap-proach to researching, understanding and teaching comparative and transna-tional history. In addition to coursework at the Vienna campus, students mayalso take advantage of academic activities and resources available at CEU’s Budapest campus.

Earn a valuable degreeMA in Comparative History / 1 YEAR / The program is built around the com-parative research of early modern, modern and contemporary history. It en-courages students to explore a multitude of scholarly approaches and disci-plines, including oral history, historical anthropology, intellectual history, concep-tual history, microhistory, urban history and gender history.
