    WHO WE ARE

  • Who WE Are Pwy Ydym NiPAPYRUS is the national charity dedicated to the prevention of young suicide.

Elusen genedlaethol yw PAPYRUS sy’n ymroddedig i atal hunanladdiad ifanc.

    What We Know

Suicide is the biggest killer of young people – male and female – under 35 in the UK. Every year many thousands more attempt or contemplate suicide, harm themselves or suffer alone, afraid to speak openly about how they are feeling.

    Our Vision

Our vision is for a society which speaks openly about suicide and has the resources to help young people who may have suicidal thoughts.

    Our Mission

We exist to reduce the number of young people who take their own lives by shattering the stigma around suicide and equipping young people and their communities with the skills to recognise and respond to suicidal behaviour.

    Beth Rydym Yn Ei Wybod

Hunanladdiad yw prif achos marwolaeth pobl ifanc – yn ddynion a menywod – iau na 35 yn y DU. Bob blwyddyn mae miloedd yn fwy yn ceisio neu’n ystyried hunanladdiad, niweidio eu hunain neu ddioddef ar eu pen eu hunain, gan ofni siarad yn agored am eu teimladau.

    Ein Gweledigaeth

Ein gweledigaeth yw cael cymdeithas sy’n siarad yn agored am hunanladdiad ac un sydd â’r adnoddau i gynorthwyo pobl ifanc allai fod yn meddwl am hunanladdiad.

    Ein Cenhadaeth

Rydym yn bodoli er mwyn lleihau’r nifer o bobl ifanc sydd yn cymryd eu bywydau eu hunain a hynny trwy ddileu’r stigma sy’n bodoli ynghylch hunanladdiad. Rydym am roi’r sgiliau i bobl ifanc a’u cymunedau i ymateb i ymddygiad allai arwain at hunanladdiad.

  • Beliefs That Guide Our Thinking PREVENTION:Many young suicides are preventable.

PASSION: Those who are touched personally by a young suicide have a unique contribution to make to our work.

HOPE:No young person should have to suffer alone with thoughts or feelings of hopelessness and nobody should have to go through the heartbreak of losing a young person to suicide.

LEARNING:There are always lessons to be learned from listening to young people at risk of suicide, those who give them support and those who have lost a young person to suicide.

    OUR Beliefs and Values

Credoau sy’n Arwain sut rydym yn Meddwl ATALIAD:Gellir atal nifer o achosion o hunanladdiad ymhlith pobl ifanc.

ANGERDD: Mae gan y rheini sydd wedi cael profiad personol o hunanladdiad gyfraniad i’w wneud i’n gwaith.

GOBAITH:Ni ddylai’r un person ifanc orfod dioddef meddyliau neu deimladau o anobaith ar ei ben ei hun ac ni ddylai neb orfod mynd trwy dor calon o golli person ifanc i hunanladdiad.

DYSGU:Mae gwersi i’w dysgu o hyd wrth wrando ar bobl ifanc sydd mewn risg o hunanladdiad, y rheini sy’n rhoi cymorth iddynt a’r rheini sydd wedi colli person ifanc i hunanladdiad.

    EIN Credoau a’n Gwerthoedd

  • OUR OriginsPAPYRUS was founded in 1997 by a mother, Jean Kerr, from Lancashire following the loss of her son to suicide. PAPYRUS was initially set up as the Parents’ Association for the Prevention of Young Suicide, hence the name PAPYRUS.

Since 1997, PAPYRUS has continued to listen to and learn from the experiences of those personally touched by young suicide. Today, PAPYRUS works in many ways to prevent young suicide.

PAPYRUS has been a long standing member of the government advisory groups in England and Wales on suicide prevention matters.

We are active members of the National Suicide Prevention Strategy Advisory Group in England and of the National Advisory Group on Suicide Prevention and Self-harm reduction in Wales. Other national bodies that we contribute to are the National Suicide Prevention Alliance and the National Police Suicide Prevention Strategy Advisory Group.

EIN CefndirCafodd PAPYRUS ei sefydlu ym 1997 gan Jean Kerr, mam o Swydd Gaerhirfryn yn dilyn hunanladdiad ei mab. I ddechrau, sefydlwyd PAPYRUS fel Cymdeithas Rieni ar gyfer Atal Hunanladdiad Ifanc (Prevention of Young Suicide sy’n rhoi’r acronym PAPYRUS i ni.)

Ers 1997, mae PAPYRUS wedi parhau i wrando a dysgu o brofiadau’r rheini sydd wedi cael profiad personol o hunanladdiad ifanc. Heddiw, mae PAPYRUS yn gweithio mewn nifer o ffyrdd gwahanol er mwyn osgoi hunanladdiad ifanc.

Mae PAPYRUS wedi bod yn aelod hirdymor o grwpiau ymgynghorol y llywodraeth yng Nghymru a Lloegr ar faterion sy’n ymwneud ag atal hunanladdiad.

Rydym yn aelodau gweithredol o Grŵp Ymgynghorol Strategaeth Genedlaethol Atal Hunanladdiad yn Lloegr a Grŵp Ymgynghorol Atal Hunanladdiad a Lleihau Hunan-niwed yng Nghymru. Cyrff eraill y cyfrannwn atynt yw: Cynghrair Genedlaethol Atal Hunanladdiad a Grŵp Ymgynghorol Strategaeth Atal Hunanladdiad Cenedlaethol yr Heddlu.

Daw ein hymgyrchu o’n hangerdd fel unigolion, rhieni, teuluoedd a chymunedau sydd wedi cael eu heffeithio’n bersonol gan hunanladdiad ifanc. Rydym yn galw am newid mewn nifer o fannau gan ddefnyddio ymgyrchoedd cryf a deinamig yn ogystal â chyflwyno tystiolaeth i’r rheini sydd mewn grym fel y gall gwersi gael eu dysgu a’u rhoi ar waith i helpu i achub bywydau ifanc. OUR Work

    SUPPORT:

We provide confidential support and advice to young people struggling with thoughts of suicide, and anyone worried about a young person through our helpline, HOPELINEUK.

    EQUIP:

We engage communities and volunteers in suicide prevention projects and deliver training programmes to individuals and groups. This includes equipping local councils, healthcare professionals and school staff with suicide prevention skills.

    INFLUENCE:

We aim to shape national social policy and make a significant contribution to the local and regional implementation of national suicide prevention strategies wherever we can. Our campaigning comes from our passion as individuals, parents, families and communities who have been touched personally by young suicide. We press for change in many places using hard-hitting and dynamic campaigns as well as presenting evidence to those in power so that lessons can be learned and learning implemented to help save young lives.
