•Died in 1999 at the age of 83
•A man who wants something will find a way; a man who doesn’t will find an excuse. – Stephen Dolley Jr.
•23 And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. Luke 9:23 KJV
Matthew 6:33
•33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. (KJV)
Fan or Follower – what about you?
•33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Mathew 6:33 (KJV)
•Position•Relationship
Position and Relationship
•Position is: The proper location and proper place of something (GOD) at any given time.
•Relationship is: The condition of being connected.
Position
• 4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Psalm 23:4 (KJV)
•“Yea though I walk through hostile territory I will fear no evil for thou art my point man. Thou goest before me in the presence of my enemies, thou leadest me past all the traps and snares. I don’t have to worry, I don’t have to fret, all I have to do is Let God be First. (GDV )
•Philippians 4:6: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus
Relationship•Relationship is defined as how one thing relates to another
•Colossians 3:23,24 “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.
John 15:5,7
•5 “Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing. (NLT)•7 But if you remain in me and my words remain in you, you may ask for anything you want, and it will be granted! (NLT)
Position• Are you seeking Jesus first? • Is he the point man in your life or are you taking on that position? • If there has never been a time in your life where it’s made sense like this, you need to take the next step and put Jesus first in your life.
Relationship•Do you have a relationship with Christ? • This starts with putting God first – but a relationship continues on beyond the decision… it is ongoing. •Do you recognize that Jesus is your source? Jesus is the vine and we are the branches
In closing…
•Who is first in your life?•What do you worry about?•Do you recognize that having a relationship with Jesus starts with him being first, but continues as we are the branch and he is the vine?
