Energydemandisprojectedtogrowby88%between2014and2035,muchfasterthantheglobalaverageof34%.Africandemandaccountsforjust5%oftheglobaltotalenergyconsumptionin2035Energyproductiongrowsby39%andremainsdominatedbyoil.Oil’sshare,however,shrinksfrom52%in2014to39%in2035withnaturalgasrisingfrom24%to31%.RenewablesgrowstronglyinAfrica,butfromaverysmallbase,asdoeshydro(+140%).Asaresultnon-fossilfuelsareprojectedtonearlydoubletheirmarketsharefrom8%todayto15%in2035.

Thetotalpotential forCSPisanestimated4,719TWhayear,mainlyinthearidandsemi-aridareasofthenorth,eastandsouthofAfrica.

Windenergypotentialhasbeenestimatedat3,800TWhayear.concentratedinthecoastalzonesofnorthern, easternandsouthernAfrica,anditisoneofthemostreliablewindenergyresourcesintheworld.
