What Is Lie? A lie is a false statement that is presented as if it were true. In certain situations, however, lying is permitted or expected Generally, the term "lie" carries a negative sense Psychologists believes that many lies are simply for the purpose of
maintaining social contacts by avoiding insults
Why Do Man Lie To avoid punishment To obtain a sense of power Lies as wish fulfillment To assist self-deception A habit Fear of Rejection etc
To Avoid Punishment
These lies starts early in the childhood To avoid several punishments Childs starts lying e.g "'No, I didn't eat
the cookies. No, I didn't hit my brother By passing of age, lying habit increases.
To obtain a sense of power
If you can lie and get away with it, you feel more powerful and you feel superior.
The more you lie and get away, the more you feel superior.
You may begin to feel invincible and have a disconnect between your true abilities and what your fantasized abilities are.
For the example of Adolph Hitler: "The more he lied, the more he began to believe his own lies and his own invincibility”
to assist self-deception
These are lies we tell to others to avoid facing
some painful truth about ourselves
If you see someone to believe in your lies, may be
you own start believe in your lie.
We know that we all wants to hide our painful moments because we consider it as our weakness
to help another person
These are also referred to as paternalistic lies and sometimes called White lies
We Usually tell these lies to help others often our or both benefit.
We also tell these lies preventing others from experiencing psychological harm
For Example: doctors might lie to their patients about exactly how terrible their diagnosis is to help them recover better.
Lies as an act of aggression These lies are the the lies which are told to harm others.
In this category liar shows highly selfish behavior.
These type of lies may be lead to breaking of relations and serious consequences.
Even the lies told by a salesman to a prospective customer can fit in this category.
The liar is trying to get something by truly aggressive lies,
Lies As wish Fulfillment These lies are common among children ages 4-7 years.
Often children will say something has happened just because
they want it very much.
For Example: Last summer we went to Disneyland, The child may think, 'We wanted to go to Disneyland’

Effects Of Lies
Feelings of betrayal when being lied to
Lose trust in other person
Damage relationships
Lying about major parts of your relationship can have huge consequences
You may have to say more lies to cover up one lie.
LIARS Get Double Punished
Lying is a gamble.
If the teenager is not found out, then there is no punishment; but if the teenager is found out, he or she is often punished twice –
first for the offense, and second for lying about it.
Liars double up the consequences for getting caught.
LIARS COMPLICATE THEIR LIVES
Liars have to remember two versions of reality: what they actually did (the truth of what happened)
the lie they told about what they did (the falsehood they created.) Keeping this distinction clear proves twice as complicated as telling the truth.
Liars have to manage double lives.
LIARS LIVE IN FEAR
Concealing the truth, liars have to live in hiding.
They wonder and worry whether the deception they created will hold up or come crashing down around them if they are caught.
Liars live in fear of being found out.
LIARS HURT THEMSELVES
Because they lack the courage to own up to the truth of their actions.
liars live a coward's life. Each time they deny the truth, they don't dare to be honest.
Liars lower their self-esteem.
LIARS ARE LONELY PEOPLE.
To avoid questions and to keep from being found out, liars distance themselves from those to whom the lies were told.
They become isolated from family and friends they have deliberately misled.
cut off closeness to those they care about and love.
LIARS FEEL OUT OF CONTROL
Covering up one lie with another, pretty soon liars lose track of all the lies they've told.
They find it harder and harder to keep their story straight.
Liars can't remember all the lies they've told.
Solutions Of Lying
Make A Commitment
Treat lying as you would any other addiction
Make a serious commitment to quit
Set a date after which you vow to be honest
Identify your triggers
To stop lying it helps to identify the situations, emotions, people or places that tent to cause you to avoid telling the truth
Find a way to confront it with honesty
If You Can’t Tell Truth, Keep Calm
If you stuck in a situation, where you can’t tell truth. Then don’t say anything.
If you can’t be honest, it’s better to stay quiet or change the subject.
You are not forced to answer questions that you don’t want to answer.
Don’t setup a lie If you ask questions to your children which you already know the answer
you are giving the opportunity to your children to lie
To avoid problems sit down with children after school or take off there shoes etc
Conclusion we have taught that lying is wrong and hurts people including ourselves.
lying will create a bad impression on the next generation as well as it does not give any benefit on long way.
On the other hand, in some situations, telling the truth leads to more bad than good. So with this lying is used will make others in the relationship feel better about themselves.
everything always has two sides, so we will choose a best solution in each of different situations in order to deal with the problem appropriately.
