ADVANCED JOB COSTING

WITH QUICKBOOKS:

In proper ERP solutions, the job cost should be directly linked to the accounting GL so when costs/revenue are posted against the job, it automatically updates the financials and at the same time, it captures all the details in the job cost reporting. Quickbooks does not provide cost types which means that users have to tie every cost item to a GL account which creates a messin the financials and is double the work every time a new job is awarded.

In Premier, users avoid this time consuming process because we provide job cost types which can be tiedto the GL. Hence, the cost items are used to providethe Project Managers the details, which in turn simplifies the process and provides a clean set of financials for the owners and detailed valuable job cost reporting for the PMs.

QuickBooks can provide basic job cost reports such as P&L by job, however it does not provide detailed insight into job costing so you can’t track if you are over/under on a job in real-time. In contrast, Premier provides PMs with real-time reports that manage original estimates, change orders, current estimate, committed cost, o/s commitment, actuals, WIP, estimate @ completion, % complete and much more. IMPROVED WORKFLOW

WITH QUICKBOOKS:

Users can access key modules such as purchase orders, inventory receipts, and bills. However, in Premier, users can set up multi-levels of approvals and view their own approval inbox to review purchase orders, AP invoices, change orders, sub pay apps, RFI, alerts, etc. Users can view the line item detail and make any adjustments to the distribution directly from the screen, drill down into the back-up or scanned document, and view if you are over/under budget directly from the screen.

SIMPLIFIED ESTIMATES

WITH QUICKBOOKS:

Creating estimates involves creating a new “cost item” for every cost item a user needs to track. Each “cost item” has to manually be linked to a Chart of Account.

These items are commonly inputted manually during the creation of the estimate.

QuickBooks has the ability to import an item list from Excel, however, the templates are not readily available to users, and must be created by the user. Unfortunately, the creation of the template and subsequent import is not very seamless and therefore is not used as often.

The Excel import that QuickBooks provides is only offered on their desktop version of the product, not on a cloud version. In contrast, Premier provides an Excel upload that is easy to use and readily available on the cloud format.
