  • 1.CG Learning to Prophesy September 19, 2013 We will discuss the work of the Holy Spirit in the Old Testament times. Jesus and the Holy Spirit. The promise of the Father to send His Holy Spirit. The promise of Jesus of sending the Holy Spirit for us believers.

2. Exodus 4:21 Good News Translation (GNT) 21 Again the LORD said to Moses, Now that you are going back to Egypt, be sure to perform before the king all the miracles which I have given you the power to do. But I will make the king stubborn, and he will not let the people go. 3. Numbers 11:16-17 (NKJV) The Seventy Elders 16 So the LORD said to Moses: Gather to Me seventy men of the elders of Israel, whom you know to be the elders of the people and officers over them; bring them to the tabernacle of meeting, that they may stand there with you. 17 Then I will come down and talk with you there. I will take of the Spirit that is upon you and will put the same upon them; and they shall bear the burden of the people with you, that you may not bear it yourself alone. 4. Lets have a look at some New Testament Scriptures. 21. The promise of Jesus John 14:17 New King James Version (NKJV) 17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. 22. The double promise. Acts 2:38-39 New King James Version (NKJV) 38 Then Peter said to them, Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call. 23. The doings of the Holy Spirit John 14:26 New King James Version (NKJV) 26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you. 24. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His. 26. Why we need the Holy Spirit? Jesus promised to send another advocate, one like Him, a comforter. He teaches us and reveals treasures of Scripture, He direct us the way to go. He assures us that we belong to God (Seal of HS). He works in us so we become more Christ-like. He equips us for service, gives us His gifts and empower us. Jesus needed Him, so we do. 31. Ephesians 4:30 New King James Version (NKJV) 30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. 32. Luke 1:35 New King James Version (NKJV) 35 And the angel answered and said to her, The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God. 33. 1 Corinthians 2:10 New King James Version (NKJV) 10 But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. And when he had said this, he fell asleep. 46. Do you believe the Holy Spirit is in you? Have you been baptized in the Holy Spirit? Do you feel when he comes upon you? Are you aware of the abilities, talents, gifting and skills that the Holy Spirit has put in you? What do you thing is your strength with the Holy Spirit? Where do you Think you need more of his power? Are you hungry for him? 47. Next week we wont meet, but I strongly encourage you to come at least for an evening to our Conference. This is the 20th Anniversary of our glorious Catch The Fire Conference. The presence of the Lord in our Conferences is way different from the one we have in our Sunday Services.
