About Widmer Brothers

In 1979, with the legalization of home brewing in Oregon, brothers Kurt and Rob Widmer began making beer for themselves and their friends. By 1984 when Craft brewing was legalized, they started their own brewery at Widmer Brewing Company. In 1986 the owner of The Dublin Pub, which already carried the brother’s Altbier and Weizenbier, was eager to expand his offerings and asked the brothers to make a third for him. The brewery only had two fermenters at the time so to save space, they simply left the Weizenbier unfil-tered and impressively cloudy, thus creating the first American-Style Hefeweizen. In 1990 Kurt & Rob moved the brewery to its current location in North Portland and renamed the brewery Widmer Brothers Brewing.

Today, the unfiltered cloudy beer is the company’s signature brew and one of the best selling wheat beers, winning numerous Gold Medals at festivals across the country. The brewery currently produces a variety of award-winning and heralded craft beers including Drop Top Amber Ale and Upheaval IPA.

Our events team is ready to assist you from the early stages of planning all the way through day-of coordination. From weddings, receptions and rehearsal dinners to corporate meetings, happy hours and holiday parties, an event at Widmer is a unique Portland experience your guests won’t soon forget.

LocationThe private entrance to the banquet rooms is located just before the Widmer Brothers Tap room with the green and black doorway marked “947” on N. Russell St. If your guests arrive by vehicle we have two parking lots, located at the corner of N Russell and Mississippi and one on the corner of N Russell. Complimentary street parking is also available. Your guests may also arrive on the Max Yellow line via the Mississippi/Albina station.

Our SpacesBROTHERS BALLROOM Housed on the second floor of the historic Smithson-McKay Building, the Ballroom offers the best of the Northwest. Views of the Fremont Bridge, Downtown, and the West Hills of Portland complement the rooms’ rich colors and crafted woodwork, much of which has been restored to its original beauty.

This space has a connecting air wall that converts into two smaller rooms; Hefe Hall and Altbier Annex.

WIDMER BROTHERS PUBThe Pub reopened in December of 2017 with the new focus of highlighting beer brewed in the adjoining state-of-the-art Innovation Brewery poured from 27 revolving taps. The industrial-like setting, with high ceilings and expansive windows gives guests a view of the inner workings of the brewing process from the comfort of a bar stool.

BEER GARDENAdjacent to the historic pub on North Russell Street, the 2000 sq ft. Beer Garden will be available throughout the summer to rent! Patrons can enjoy enjoy sun, and 12 of Widmer Brothers’ finest small batch beers and ciders brewed across the street at the Innovation Brewery. Have a seat at one of our picnic tables, play some yard games, and listen to live music (per request) all while enjoying delicious bites from our very own Widmer food truck! The outdoor space is a perfect fit for the true Oregonian.

Buffet menus must be finalized no later than two weeks prior to the event to ensure product availability. Final guest count is required no later than one week prior to the event. The final count is the minimum number of guests for which the host will be charged. If no written guarantee is received, the originally contracted guest count will be used as the final guest count. Buffets include pitchers of water and iced tea. Add coffee service to any buffet for $3 per guest.

Children under the age 5 are welcome at no cost, while children aged 6 to 12 are priced at $9.00 each.

Vegetarian, Vegan, Gluten Free, and other dietary restriction needs may be accommodated.

“Customized or “Chef’s Choice” menus can be accommodated. Please arrange with the Event Manager at least two weeks prior to your event.

Boxed LunchGroups may choose up to three sandwich entrée selections from the choices below. Final Boxed Lunch counts are required no later than one week prior to the event.

Plated menu selections must be confirmed no later than two weeks prior to the event. Final count for per-guest entrée selections due no later than two weeks prior to the event. The fi-nal count is the minimum number of guests for which the host will be charged. If pre-counts are not available for Plated style menu, the host will be required to select ONE entrée option for all guests from the chosen menu.

Substitutions amongst menu items is not permitted, although special dietary and allergy restrictions may be accommodated within our capabilities with two weeks’ notice.

Children’s Plated options are available for guests under the age of 12 years old. Inquire with banquet manager regarding current offerings.

PERSONALIZED BREWER’S DINNER $68 PER GUESTPersonalized Brewer’s Dinners are available for hosts wishing to provide a guaranteed memorable experience for their guests. Our Event Manager and Chef will work with you to create a personalized four-course menu which includes an appetizer, salad, entrée, and dessert. Each course is paired with a 5oz glass of Widmer Brothers beer while one of our knowledgeable brewery tour guides provides commentary throughout each course.

Parties are invited to tour our state-of-the-art brewing facility for a 30 minute tour either before or after their event and will also take home a 5oz Widmer Taster Glass keepsake.

Service Options:HOSTED BEVERAGE SERVICEIf you would like to offer a hosted beverage service, your guest’s drinks will be charged to the final bill. Please select which beverages you would like to host at your event.

NO HOST BEVERAGE SERVICEWith this option your guests would be responsible for their own beverage purchases. Serv-ers will be able to take individual drink orders and arrange payment with each guest. $15/ hour for server with 2 hours set up and cleanup

HEFEWEIZEN 4.8% ABV | 30 IBUAmerican-style Hefeweizen, brewed since 1986, Hefeweizen (meaning “yeast wheat” in German) is purposefully cloudy in appearance due to live yeast in suspension. The yeast and Cascade hops deliver complex citrus aromas and flavors, and a crisp, refreshing finish.

DROP TOP AMBER ALE 5.3% ABV | 20 IBUA rich, flavorful amber ale, with exceptionally smooth and easy taste. Uniquely brewed with honey malt and just a touch of milk sugar, Drop Top’s silky character yields complex flavors without a trace of harshness.

UPHEAVAL IPA 7.0% ABV | 85 IBUThe result of our brewers’ relentless pursuit of the perfect IPA. With more than two pounds of hops per barrel, Upheaval IPA unleashes a huge hop flavor and aroma with serious bitterness and balanced finish. Brewed with wheat, the result is a hazy, bold IPA that’s Unfiltered. Unexpected. Unapologetic. Uncompromised.

PDX PILSNER 4.8% ABV | 41 IBUNorthern German style pilsner brewed in the northern part of Portland. At first whiff, notes of spice and lemon zest envelop you. Because we live in arms reach of the hop farms of the Pacific Northwest, we dry hopped our Pils with the once forgotten Columbia hop. PDX is perfect for the short, grey days of winter and the long, sunny days of summer. The bitterness is firm and lingering true to a Pilsner brewed in the North of Germany. Graham cracker, lemon zest, and mild hop spice compliment the bitterness making PDX Pils crisp & refreshing.
