OBJECTIVE:

The objective of this project is to generate PWM frequency in PIC microcontroller to control the speed of the single phase induction motor.

PIC :

The microcontroller that has been used for this project is from PIC series. PIC microcontroller is the first RISC based microcontroller. Technology that is used in pic16F877 is flash technology, so that data is retained even when the power is switched off.

LCD DISPLAY:

Liquid crystal displays (LCDs) have materials which combine the properties of both liquids and crystals. Rather than having a melting point, they have a temperature range within which the molecules are almost as mobile as they would be in a liquid, but are grouped together in an ordered form similar to a crystal.

NTC THERMISTOR (TEMPERATURE SENSOR)

Thermistor are temperature-sensing elements made of semiconductor material that has been sintered in order to display large changes in resistance in proportion to small changes in temperature. This resistance can be measured by using a small and measured direct current, or dc, passed through the thermistor in order to measure the voltage drop produced. Thermistors are an incredibly accurate category of temperature sensors.

NTC Thermistors are radial leaded discs or assembled into probes designed for durable performance. NTC Thermistors are non-linear resistors, which alter their resistance characteristics with temperature. The resistance of an NTC thermistor will decrease as the temperature increases.

VOLTAGE MEASUREMENT

A potential transformer may have several secondary windings on the same core as a primary winding, for use in different metering or protection circuits. The primary may be connected phase to ground or phase to phase. The secondary is usually grounded on one terminal.

CURRENT MEASUREMENT

A current transformer (CT) is an electric device that produces an alternating current(AC) in its secondary which is proportional to the AC in its primary.

PROXIMITY SENSOR

• The Inductive Proximity Sensor (IPS) is a solid state device that generates an output signal when metal objects are either inside or entering into its sensing area from any direction.

• No physical contact is required nor desired.
