How should your condition be diagnosed and treated?Where can you get the cheapest, best quality treatments? Is there technology aids to help you manage your disease at home?

Innovative disruption has finally arrived in healthcare

You now have affordable options

• Why endure chronic pain and disability for months, even years while waiting on public hospital lists?

• Why pay thousands of dollars in unexpected out of pocket costs for private treatments?

• Why walk blind into sub standard hospitals that have been the subject of repeated complaints?

Why we started our business

❖ The death toll from hospital errors in Australia is estimated to be 18,000 a year. 50,000 sustain serious injury from hospital errors. That is 9 times the national road toll. There is no national collation of data about hospital errors to identify the major causes and work to reduce them.

❖ Hospital funding is fragmented into short, episodic treatment payments, and has no relationship to the quality of care actually delivered. There are very few customer feedback surveys conducted to assess patients experiences. There is no public public forum for feedback on healthcare services, no Trip Advisor for hospitals.

❖ Extensive reports on bad hospitals and under performing doctors are maintained by health bureaucracies. These include drug addicted doctors, high rates of patient deaths in certain areas and repeat Coroner’s complaints about particular hospitals. This information is kept hidden from the public under ‘privacy laws’ and ‘commercial in confidence’ laws.

❖ Medical records are still paper bound, use of the national e-health record system is low. Half of all hospital discharge summaries leave out significant conditions and one in 10 have the wrong diagnosis. One third of hospital errors and 50% of general practice errors are medication related.

❖ In the absence of national, legally binding Best Practice Guidelines, medical and nursing care varies dramatically from hospital to hospital. There is no publicly available Best Practice Clinical Guidelines for the public to assess their treatment against. 57% of Australians receive medical care that is below recommended best practice guidelines.

❖ Private hospitals are legally exempt from publishing their error rates. This is despite the fact that public exposure is one of the few proven methods of raising hospital standards. One third of Australian hospitals are now private.

❖ There are currently no 'whole of treatment' up front quotes for private medical treatments. Private hospital bills are fragmented into a wide variety of bills with different rebates from different heath funds at different levels of cover. Australia is third in the world for out of pocket medical bills. A senate enquiry into the issue in 2014 found out of pocket costs to be a growing barrier to public health. Every major newspaper in the country has published stories of private patients ending out out of pocket over $10,000 for private hospital treatments.
