East London
East London is the perfect place to study, with the warm Mozambique current promo�ng all year round
swimming, surfing and diving. Local pris�ne beaches and nature reserves teem with fauna and flora. The
rich mel�ng pot of culture and heritage is blended with the dynamic local Xhosa culture, providing a rich
diversity of experiences and adventures.
The Wild Coast
Well-known for its magnificent hiking trails, the Wild Coast begins near Kei Mouth and stretches through
the Jikeleza route. See the shipwrecks along the rugged coast-line and take the ferry across the Kei River.
Experience the frenzy of the sardine run, with gannets, seals, whales and dolphins flooding the waters.
Thrilling and chilling outdoor ac�vi�es include; rock-climbing, surfing and game drives where you can
view the Big Five .
Accommoda�on
Backpackers:
Located on an 8 hectare stretch of the Wild Coast
forest, Buccaneers is a backpacker haven. Enjoy sea
and lagoon views. All meals included. Relax on the
beach, surf or watch the whales and dolphins swim
by. Other ac�vi�es include: fishing, horse-riding,
off-road cycling, Big Five game safari and tours of
the local brewery.
Homestay:
Chosen families with close connec�ons to the East
London Language Ins�tute will provide an
away-from-home environment. Bed and Breakfast
plus laundry included.
Bed & Breakfast:
Stay in one of many well-priced B&B’s which offer
full board, self catering or selected catering availa-
ble.
Urban Facili�es:
• Shop your �me away at Hemingway’s Mall or Vincent Park Shopping Centre.

Tours and Transport Services:
East London (Buffalo City) is well serviced by a wide range of transport services. The region is linked by
daily commercial flights with all major South African ci�es and commercial luxury buses. Excellent car
rentals are available. Tour operators and guides will meet any specific tour needs you may have. Tourism
opportuni�es include tours to local villages to sample tradi�onal food and locally brewed beer, and to
watch performers celebrate their culture through dance and song.

Hogsback Weekend
Inland from the coast, Hogsback holds some of the world’s best Nature Reserves, hiking trails and
climbing. Hogsback is the perfect place to mix with ar�sts and craNers while staying in beau�ful
mountains and even having an open-air bath on the edge of a cliff.
Friday
Depart Buccaneers mid-aNernoon for Hogsback. Check in at Away with the Fairies and enjoy sundowners
at Fairies View Point. Dinner and overnight.
Saturday
ANer breakfast, mountain bike to Madonna and Child Waterfall where you will abseil down the side of
the falls before hiking back out of the forest (passing big tree). In the aNernoon, sundowners at Tor Doon
View Point. Dinner and overnight.
Sunday
ANer breakfast head out on the 39 steps hike to KeDle Spout View Point. Enjoy lunch before depar�ng
back to Chintsa.

Addo Elephant Park & Bungee Weekend
Enjoy a weekend in one of South Africa’s most renowned Na�onal Parks. Interact with wildlife and take

Depart Chintsa at 2pm for Addo. Check in and spend the night at Avoca River Cabins. Dinner and
overnight.
Saturday:
ANer an early breakfast, head into the park for a game drive. Depart midday for Storms River where you
will check in at the Tube & Axe Backpackers. Dinner and overnight.
Sunday:
ANer breakfast head up the bridge for the famous Bungee. ANer taking the plunge you head to Jeffery’s
Bay and check into Island Vibe. Dinner and overnight.

6am departure for East London, arriving back for class at 11:30

East London City Tour (Half Day)
East London is the only river port in South Africa and a unique holiday des�na�on. Join us in exploring the
city and visit historical sites around the city, including the East London Museum which is the home of the
Coelacanth, a pre-historic fish which was discovered at the Chalumna River. This town boasts Victorian
style buildings and one of the best beaches in the country.
Township Experience (Half Day)
This tour takes you to the heart of the second largest township in South Africa, aNer Soweto in
Johannesburg, the township of Mdantsane, home of Boxing in South Africa. This is an educa�onal and
interac�ve tour where you will experience the day-to-day life in South African Townships. While on this
tour you will spend �me in one of the historical townships in South Africa, the township of Duncan
Village. The tour includes a shebeen and cultural experience
Cultural Tour (Half Day)
The Eastern Cape is the tradi�onal home of the Xhosa people. This tour takes you to a typical living Xhosa
Village where you will learn about the Xhosa culture, their way of life, tradi�ons and day-to-day life of the
people of the Eastern Cape
Nelson Mandela Freedom Trail Tour (Full Day)
This is a historical tour that takes you to the city of Mthatha, following the footsteps of Dr. Nelson
Mandela. The highlight of this tour is a visit to Qunu Village where President Mandela grew up and built
his home, the village of Mqhekezweni where he spent most of his adulthood at the Great Place under the
Regent King Jongintaba M�rara. This is the place where he learnt about leadership.
Pride of Amatole Heritage Tour (Full Day)
This is one of the historical tours that take you to the heritage of Amatole an area around Amatola
Mountains from East London to Alice. This tour also follows the footsteps of Steve Biko, with a visit at the
new Steve Biko Founda�on in Ginsberg, Biko House, Steve Biko Garden of Remembrance. With the view
of Amathole Mountains in the background, we drive to the historical town of Alice where most of African
leaders received their educa�on at the University of Fort Hare.
At the end of your Wild Coast Adventure, you have the op�on to hop onto the
Baz Bus and con�nue your journey to

English as a Foreign Language
Students from non– English speaking countries realise the value of improving their English skills in a
nurturing environment. The emphasis is on verbal and wriDen communica�on as well as with reading for
understanding, to provide confidence in an interna�onal market.

confident in everyday conversa�onal Xhosa, through a mix of prac�cal grammar, cultural insights and

Course A2endance
• A maximum of 8 students per class.
• ADendance of all lessons is compulsory. Missed lessons will not be made up.
• Cancella�on or postponement of a lesson no later than 24 hours prior the lesson.
• Individual and group classes are available
• A 90% aDendance rate is required to receive a cer�ficate.
Payment & Refunds
• A deposit of 50% of the language and accommoda�on fees is needed in order to secure your
booking. This deposit must be made 30 days prior to the start of the course.
• The remaining 50% must be paid 7 days prior to the start of the course.
• Should a student wish to cancel the course, the East London Language Ins�tute must be no�fied 10
days prior to the start of the course. All fees, less one week’s tui�on and accommoda�on and any
bank charges, will be refunded.
• A student will be refunded in full, less bank charges, in the event of course cancella�ons by the East
London Language Ins�tute

• Students are not insured by the East London Language Ins�tute against illness, accident, theN or
any loss of personal effects. East London Language Ins�tute or its representa�ves cannot accept re-
sponsibility for any accident occurring during a course, on or off the course premises, on excursions
or during ac�vi�es. Full personal insurance cover should be taken out to include medical and any
other expenses and also loss of fees should the whole or part of a course or any ac�vity, paid in ad-
vance, not be aDended.
• All courses at East London Language Ins�tute are offered subject to availability. We reserve the
right to change courses and fees (except in the case of binding quotes to corporate clients) without
prior no�ce, but will make a concerted effort to keep clients informed.
• In the event of a group not being available for any level, East London Language Ins�tute reserves
the right to allocate the student individual tui�on at half the number of lessons booked.
