Hartford Student Honored as “Kid Captain” at Iowa Hawkeye Football Game Enzo Thongsoum was honored as the Kid Captain for the Iowa Haw-keye football team on Saturday, September 28 in Iowa City. Enzo is 4th grader in our district and a truly amazing child. ”Enzo was a typical toddler until he began having sei-zures at 21 months old. Over sev-eral weeks at his local hospital, his condition worsened and his family didn’t receive answers for why he was having seizures. After being airlifted to UI Stead Family Chil-
dren’s Hospital, Enzo was quickly diagnosed with anti-NMDA receptor enceph-alitis, a disease that causes the immune system to attack the brain. With the help of therapy, Enzo has made a steady recovery from this rare illness, and is defying the odds by walking again!”
Enzo is the type of child that everyone loves to be around. Students and staff at Hartford have loved getting to know Enzo this year and we look forward to watching Enzo grow each and every day.
Although faced with many challenges, Enzo continues to get stronger every day, and even has his own hashtag, #EnzoTheFighter.
For more information about Enzo’s journey please click on the link from the University of Iowa hospitals. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r8O4xF6y04k
Thank you Enzo and the entire Thongsoum family for being such an inspira-tion for all of us.

You will pick them up at the elementary when practice is over. We encourage everyone to get involved in a winter activity! All athletes need to have a current physical on file to be eligible to participate. In order for a physical to be current, it must be dated within the past year. Once it expires, you have a 30-day grace period to get us a new one in order for your student to continue participation in an activity. According to state law, if an athlete does not have a physical, they are not eligible to participate until it is complete and current. We have some athletes who have physicals that will expire during the season, please make sure they stay current. Please feel free to contact me at [email protected] with any ques-tions you have for our middle school activities.
