They hosted a very successful fitting and ordering day on Saturday. It was great to see our families using this time to order uniforms and to connect with other families. Please contact the P&C if you would like to order school uniform for your child. The P&C will be running the barbeque at the River and Wren mother’s day markets on Sunday 28 April. Please support the amazing work being done by this committee to support the school. There will be another morning tea for parents and carers next week on Thursday 11 April. Invitations are available in the front office of the school. At the recent Willans Hill School P&C meeting parents requested the school explore the SkoolBag app to improve communication between the school and families. We are pleased to say that as a result of this feedback from the P&C the school has subscribed to the SkoolBag app. A flyer is being sent home with this week’s newsletter containing further information. Thank you to all those parents who attended personalised planning meetings for their children this term. Attendance was outstanding and your contributions are greatly appreciated. This week’s newsletter contains a link for parents to complete a survey that will provide us with feedback so we can further improve this process in the future. Across the school this term staff have engaged in a broad range of professional learning opportunities to improve their knowledge and skills. Marg Maher attended Multilit training which is a program designed to improve student literacy levels. Peter Clark went to Sydney and was trained in Drumbeat which he will be implementing across the school. Drumbeat is a course designed to enhance wellbeing. Every three weeks all staff have engaged in professional learning to help them achieve their professional learning goals. A number of staff have been engaged in online learning regarding Autism, a staff member is learning Auslan, some are learning how to better understand where students are in their learning and one staff member is completing the sports coordinator course. Last week Janelle, Shirley and I attended a Visible Learning conference in Sydney that focused on understanding and knowing what impact we as educators are having on students. We look forward to sharing with our community what we have learnt from this professional learning. In the future we hope to invite parents to describe what they think learning looks like for their child. The school leadership team is currently developing a whole school framework to improve wellbeing of students, staff and our community using the national initiative ‘Be You’. Next term we will be asking parents to complete surveys so that we can decide what, as a school, we need to address in this process. ’Be You’ aims to transform Australia’s approach to supporting children’s and young people’s mental health in early learning services and schools. The vision of the approach is that every learning community is positive, inclusive and resilient – a place where every child, young person, educator and family can achieve their best possible mental health. This will be the last newsletter for Term 1. I would like to thank students, staff and families for the great start to the year. Pick up and Drop Off The mornings and afternoons at the school are extremely busy and we ask for your assistance to make sure all students are safe when arriving at and leaving the school. Parents/carers are asked to remain in their vehicles until staff can support students to or from the car. You are more than welcome to come into the school to collect your child, however, please park your car in the carpark so that other cars are able to move around the pickup area.

What is The Big Vegie Crunch?
Only around 5% of NSW children eat enough vegetables. To help our community do better, our school will be taking part in The Big Vegie Crunch (part of Veg-etable Week) at 10am on Thursday 4th April.
Primary schools across NSW will be joining together to break the record for the most students crunching vege-tables simultaneously. Last year 50,260 students crunched together. What can you do to help?
Pack a container of vegetables (not fruit this time) for your child to eat on Thursday 4th April
Keep serving up the vegetables at home and in your children’s lunchboxes!
