His father was John Shakespeare. He was elected into civil positions within

the community from 1557- 1570.He also prospered from dealing with

farm products and wool.He later ended with major debt and

died in 1601.

His mother was Mary (Arden) Shakespeare. She died in 1608.

William was educated at Stratford Grammar School from the age of 6-13. He enjoyed learning English

and reading stories written by Latin authors. He also worked for a butcher as a

child.

William married Anne Hathaway

in the year of 1582. She was pregnant then with

their first child, Susanna. They later had twins, Hamnet and Judith, who were born in

1585.
