The sporting facilities are exceptional at The Wiltshire, boasting 27 holes of golf and a leisure centre. The 18-hole Lakes Course at 6,642 yards provides a testing game of golf, whilst our 9-hole Garden Course at 3,300 yards is perfect for a quick round if time is of the essence. Additionally we have a covered driving range, putting green and chipping area for those wanting to sharpen their game.

Head to our modern Leisure Centre and you’ll discover an 18-metre indoor swimming pool and an air-conditioned gym equipped with Technogym Wellness equipment with a cardio theatre. If you are still feeling energetic we also offer free spinning bike lessons for members. Also offered are a wide variety of classes for both members and non-members.

The air-conditioned Pavilion Restaurant and Lounge offer a friendly and relaxed atmosphere and open on to a large patio, ideal for a quiet drink whilst overlooking the 18th green.

The Wiltshire Hotel

Overlooking rolling countryside and set on a parkland golf course, The Wiltshire offers 58 contemporary bedrooms as well as a range of versatile function rooms. The hotel also features extensive leisure facilities including an air-conditioned gym, fully equipped with Technogym Wellness equipment, 18-metre swimming pool, steam room, sauna, and spa pool which are free of charge to any staying guest.

The Wiltshire Beauty Spa, which opened in 2012, provides a wide range of treatments.

The championship 18-hole Lakes Course and the 9-hole Garden Course boast beautiful countryside views and numerous water features to challenge even the regular low handicap golfer. Sitting proudly on a Wiltshire hillside, the course reflects all that is best of the local landscape. Apart from the great views across the Wiltshire hills, the lakes and bunkers concentrate the mind wonderfully; accuracy and length play equally important parts in your search for a low score. The newly extended and re-designed Lakes Course covers an additional 100 acres and is a challenging but rewarding course.

The 6,642 yard, 18-hole Lakes Course was originally designed by Peter Alliss in 1991 and updated by William Swann in 2006. It is a par-72 jewel that has been sculpted out of the typical county terrain. Rolling, well-textured and welcoming fairways lead to challenging greens. These greens are undulating and can be treacherous and fast depending on the pin positions.

The 10th and 17th holes are our signature holes. The English Golf Union hosted their club championships on the Lakes Course which has made the Lakes a true championship course.

The 9-hole Garden Course is 3,300 yards long, but if you believe it is a pitch and putt, think again. When played from two sets of tees, it sets up a par-71 course with three par-fives.

And if your game’s off, no problem, just enjoy the walk and the wonderful views across The Wiltshire.

Haydn Barrell is a fully qualified PGA Professional with 25 years’ experience. As one of the owners he is passionate about the quality of the golf course and the whole golfing experience. Haydn was a club professional for many years and has also worked for some of the largest golf retailers in the UK and South Africa as a custom fitting and equipment specialist.

He has worked with many touring professionals and elite amateurs and also presented several golf equipment TV shows in South Africa. He has a vast knowledge of all aspects of the game of golf and is very happy to pass this on.

Marc McCracken – Head Professional

Marc has had more than 20 years’ experience in the golf industry and is passionate about golf and helping people improve and enjoy the game. He has a relaxed and informal approach to teaching and has the ability to teach anyone from a total beginner to a professional.

He has introduced golf to many local schools and communities working with The Golf Foundation and has built up an excellent reputation for his work with juniors. He has all the necessary qualifications including an enhanced CRB check, child protection certified and first aid.

Marc is also a custom fitting specialist having worked with all of the major manufacturers and is the ideal person to contact if you are thinking about changing your clubs and want good, honest, professional advice.

Marc was also presented with the 2012 Wiltshire Sports Partnership Coach of the Year award.

The Leisure Centre

The Wiltshire leisure club is family friendly with a large TechnoGym gym and free weights area. We have a large 18 metre swimming pool, kiddie’s pool, sauna, steam room, spa and modern spacious changing rooms. There is something for everyone whether you want to pamper, gently exercise, relax or have a full work-out.

The Wiltshire hills and the town of Royal Wootton Bassett provide a fantastic vista to admire whilst you work out in the state-of-the art gym with vibration technology. There is no better place to get fit and de-stress.

A bank of TVs, on a variety of channels including radio, complete the cardio-theatre with individual headset points on each piece of equipment so that you can enjoy good entertainment while working out. The gym is expertly monitored by our fully trained and qualified staff, who work with you on the floor and are always on hand to help and train those who want support.

The 18-metre indoor pool also has great views across the Wiltshire hills and is a great place to chill out. Four feet six inches deep from end to end, the pool has a separate children’s swimming pool at the end. The water is climate controlled at a comfortable temperature for winter and summer and it is open to hotel guests as well as members. The picturesque and private Wedding Garden with its wide patio and views across the golf course is a splendid place to relax, serve your guests drinks, and have wedding photos taken. Linked directly to the function room, it affords guests the opportunity of their own special and private rooms and garden away from the hotel and other visitors to the hotel.

The 150-seater air-conditioned function room can be laid out to your personal design. It has a large dance floor and can also be converted to three individual rooms seating up to 60 guests for more intimate family occasions. The King Suite is ideal for weddings, birthdays, anniversaries and any other celebratory occasion. It has a bar, cloakrooms and views across the Wedding Garden and the golf courses.

For local companies and businesses, and those further afield, The Wiltshire can offer excellent conference facilities. All suites are air conditioned and have complimentary Wi-Fi internet access.

Here at The Wiltshire we have three Conference Suites, The Marlborough, The Avebury and The Boardroom accommodating from 6-200 persons. These three rooms can be combined to create a large and spacious room for all your requirements. This is known as the King Suite and has the capacity to seat approximately 200 delegates. Day and 24-hour delegate rates are available.

We can provide conference equipment including, PA system, flipcharts and pens, screens and LCD projector to ensure your event runs without a hitch.

All of our suites are thoughtfully laid out to provide total flexibility with easy ground floor access. Disabled facilities are also available. If any of your guests wish to complete their day with a round of golf or make use of the swimming pool/spa/steam room both are available at an additional cost. Please pre-book at least seven days prior to your conference.

How to Find Us

The Wiltshire lies in an elevated position just to the south of Royal Wootton Bassett, Wiltshire. The outskirts of the rapidly growing regional town of Swindon lies 3.7 miles to the north east, where access to the M4 motorway is also gained at Junction 16.

The property is also situated approximately 73 miles from Heathrow Airport. Ideal for visitors from further afield for business, holiday and recreational purposes.

The nearby towns such as Bath, Cirencester, Malmesbury and Marlborough draw tourists to the area, along with The Cotswold Water Park which lies just to the north of Swindon and also attracts day and weekend visitors.

Directions

Leave the M4 at junction 16, then at Spittleborough Roundabout take the 2nd exit onto the A3102 (signposted Royal Wootton Bassett, Calne). Bear left and at the roundabout take the 2nd exit onto the A3102 (signposted Calne). At the roundabout take the 1st exit onto the A3102 (signposted Calne, Lyneham).
