I believe this unofficial, highlighted map will be part of, if not all of, the official maps. We might get a surprise but I do not think so. I wish we could have gotten all of the subdivision out of the 100- year flood plain. We pleaded, begged, wrote certified letters at I don’t remember how many meetings. Dear Neighbors:FEMA is now writing the FINAL “Letter of Determination”.

Unfortunately this determination will include approximately 31 of our subdivision lots remaining in the 100-year flood plain. The majority of these lots are in the cul-de-sac of Perry Pass and Graff Net. The other lots are on Cochet Spring and Becker Line Drive. One of the last two lots is my lot. What a bummer!

All of the other lots in the four WC sections will be declared out of the 100-year flood plain. The above information will not become official until the new proposed maps are available which I was told would be in October 2013. I asked if it could be sooner and they said they would try.

Several months ago our engineer filed a protest in regards to getting the aforementioned lots out of the 100-year flood plain, but FEMA rejected this protest.

I asked our engineer to highlight the lots in question on an unofficial map and hand a copy to each Board member at our February 11, 2013 MUD meeting. Each Board member now has one of these maps. I believe this unofficial, highlighted map will be part of, if not all of, the official maps. We might get a surprise but I do not think so.

I wish we could have gotten all of the subdivision out of the 100-year flood plain. We pleaded, begged, wrote certified letters at I don’t remember how many meetings. I think all of this helped, but to sum it all up, I guess we just didn’t present enough charm!

If you have any questions please give me a call.Sincerely,Jimmy T. Watson

Republic WasteDear Neighbors,Your MUD Board has negotiated a new three-year contract

with Republic Waste. Beginning January 1, 2013 our rate per month for the next two years will be smaller than what we have been paying. The third year our rate will be renegotiated. Other competitive bids were received.

The Board’s decision to award the contract to Republic Waste was based on their policy of “if it doesn’t move they will pick it up.” They have done a good job for us in the past. If you have any complaints, please give me a call.

Best Wishes,Jimmy T. WatsonPresident MUD #316

SOCIAL CORNER

During our Holiday Party we collected duffle bags, suitcases, and money for the male adolescent youth of Embracing Destiny. We recently received thank you letters from both the staff and the youth and I wanted to share them with you. Thank you again to everyone who gave to this amazing charitable organization.

Thank you letter from the Embracing Destiny Staff:“The EDF staff wants to thank you and your group for the money

and suitcases/duffle bags that you contributed to our boys this holiday season. We pray that you realize the difference your bags will make to our boys to have them to be able to leave this placement with their blessings in a suitcase instead of a garbage bag. It helps to diminish that feeling of being thrown away. The money helped to fill the gaps in Christmas gifts for the boys. Your thoughtfulness and effort will be eternally appreciated.”

Thank you letter from the Embracing Destiny Youth Boys:“Dear Mrs. C. Garza and Philanthropy Group:We really thank you for the suitcases and the money you gave us

at Christmas time. I thank you for the suitcases, because when we go to new placements, and we show up with a garbage bag it really feels embarrassing and people laugh at you. When we go on visits to our family members and we have our stuff in a garbage bag they just look and probably feel sad for us. So that’s why we thank you for the suitcases. Thank you for the money, because it is stuff that we really needed, and we really got what we needed. Stuff showed us a lesson, because instead of going and buying candy and junk food, they showed us it’s not about that it’s about getting the stuff we need. So now we know how to go and get the stuff we need.”

WC Fire Ant Treatment Weekend April 6 & 7

Residents of WC: please treat for fire ants on April 6 and 7, or as close to that weekend as possible. Treat your whole yard and flower beds. Our residents on Agassi Ace Ct. did this successfully last year. They used “Over ‘n Out Fire Ant Killer Granules” on one weekend and removed ants for many months.

The strategy is to treat the whole neighborhood at once so the ants do not move into the next yard. Try to participate in this optional idea so the ants do not move toward you!
