WIMBELDON CHAMPIONS
It was a great time to socialize with neighbors and catch up. The temperature was hot outside; but the clubhouse was cool and comfortable. While our resident photographer was on vacation, those of us on the social committee were having such a fun time socializing we forgot to snap some pictures! Oops!!
The barbecue catered by The Rib Tickler, in Tomball, was delicious. The side dishes and desserts provided by our neighbors in attendance made this a very tasty meal.
Special thanks to our new pool management company, Aquatic Pool Management, as the lifeguards had fun games planned for the kiddos in the pool.
The social committee is made up of volunteers from our subdivision. They plan the event, prepare, set up and clean up. To all of them and their spouses, we say thank you for a job well done. Without each of you, this Summer Social would not have been possible.
Thanks to all of you who pitched in at the end and helped us to clean up and leave in record time!!
Its events like this that join our neighborhood together and make it a very special place to live. If you are interested in being part of our Social Committee team, please email [email protected]. We not only plan all of our Wimbledon Champions social events, we have fun in the process.

Congratulations to Reiner Wiederkehr at 6230 Agassi Ace Ct. in the Garden Section. Palms anchor the corners of the house and Magnolias and Crepe Myrtles also add greenery and color with height. Society Garlic adds mid-level interest to the beds as well as well-shaped boxwoods and small shrubs. Below them one finds colorful Begonias, Pentas, Salvia, and Periwinkles set in beds with stone borders. Blue Katie Ruella lines the curb. It’s a delight to find such a variety of plants in a well-kept yard. Reiner is rewarded with a $50 gift card to Plants for All Seasons located at 6610 Louetta. 281-370-6390.

WIMBELDON CHAMPIONSDear Neighbors:
On May 31, 2012, I called FEMA in Denton, Texas to see if they could furnish us with a draft preliminary map that might give us a clue as to what we might expect to see when the official maps arrive. His response was “let me see what he could do.” He said he would get in touch with the company that is responsible for making the maps. It is a possibility they might have to appoint a Scientific Resolution Panel to resolve the official outcome. I have talked to the map manager several times, therefore, I guessed the final say so would come from the map manager.
On June 19, 2012, the map manager called me and said that he had talked to several of his people and due to the legal ramifications involved they would NOT be able to produce anything but the official maps.
Both gentlemen were very nice to talk to and answered all of my questions, not exactly the answers I wanted to hear, but they were very accommodating.
Best Wishes,Jimmy T. WatsonPresident MUD #316

This month’s recipe is for us popcorn and chocolate lovers! You may want to double the batch as it’s very addicting!
WHITE CHOCOLATE POPCORN 1 bag popped popcorn1 cup dried cranberries or cherry cranberries1 cup salted almonds12 ounces of white chocolate (Ghirardelli) ½ tsp cinnamon
Directions:Place popcorn in a large bowl, discarding unpopped kernels. Stir in nuts and cranberries.Microwave white chocolate morsels in a 2-cup glass measuring cup at HIGH 1 1/2 minutes or until melted and smooth, stirring at 30-second intervals. Pour over popcorn mixture, stirring until evenly coated.Spread mixture in a 15- x 10-inch jelly-roll pan. Sprinkle evenly with cinnamon. Let stand 15 minutes or until chocolate hardens. Break into pieces; serve immediately, or store in an airtight container up to 3 days.
Bon appétit!
If you would like to share a favorite recipe with your WC neighbors, please call Kelli Adams at 281-374-6246 or email [email protected].
