We are happy with the date but even happier with the journey we’ve been living with you. Over these first 5 years, our passionate team created an impactful portfolio of training and inspiration programs and has worked with a vast range of distinctive speakers, trainers and artists to empower more than 28.000 people. Beyond Portugal, WIN World has been developing projects of great recognition in Brazil, Angola and the United States of America, working with great global companies and involving leaders from all over the world. We believe WIN World’s most fundamental accomplishment is the permanent learning environment that we build and live every day. This has been undoubtedly the essence that allows our curiosity-driven team to understand contexts, trends, companies’ goals, business strategies, leaders’ minds and human behaviors. A culture that enables us to create innovative and meaningful programs which, in turn, encourage leaders and organizations to embrace the world as a huge market full of opportunities to create value and make the difference. In this date, we open our heart and our mission of training and inspiring people to you. Today, we launch the first issue of our newsletter WIN World Insights that will bring you every month, insights and inspirations. In this issue, apart from the team photo and the dates you can’t miss in 2014, we share with you a very special article about WIN World written by Eduardo Braun, Argentinian and one of the most renown speakers in the world on Authentic Leadership, with whom we have had the pleasure to work with for a while. This article tells a bit of the story of the company and we are glad to share here. Hope you like it. Also today, we publish the third edition of our Inspiring Years Series with Inspiring 2014. Committed to live many years more, WIN World grows with each project, each client, each leader, each speaker, each supplier, each human being. WIN World grows with you and that is why this is a fascinating journey we all live together. Thank you. Carlota Ribeiro Ferreira, CEO

When I look at WIN World, I admire it and I feel that the challenge of the project is proportional to the capacity of the entrepreneur behind it. Carlota Ribeiro Ferreira took Jack Welch – the most admired CEO of the 20th Century – to Portugal not once but twice and, by doing so, started the essence of what would turn out to be one of the finest companies of training and inspiring programs in the country – turning also Jack into an admirer of the company.

What does it take to create a great company? Management experts would say “to have an idea that has the potential market waiting to buy your product or service”. I believe that if you have all of the above you might be able to create a big business. But to create a great company you need more than that, you need what WIN World has in abundance: a deep belief that the product or service that you will launch, will change the world and the society, by improving the lives of millions.

WIN World is a story of strong beliefs. Founded on December 4th, 2008, by Carlota, WIN World launched new training and inspiration concepts such as the Business Innovation Program, CEO Conference and Happy Conference. It kept growing through the years by continuously creating new impactful concepts such as Leadership Grand Conference and Global Corporations Conference. Each of these public conferences has a strong purpose, a unique format, a special audience and outstanding global speakers and trainers who bring bold views, strong knowledge, fresh ideas and insights to prepare and inspire minds to succeed in the future.

Every time I meet with Carlota to discuss the development of WIN World, I always have to go beyond the typical strategic framework and take into account the purpose of WIN World. For instance, Singing the Future Choir, another incredible project created by WIN World, exists to promote happiness, teamwork, respect, sensitivity, creativity, global culture, positive attitude, courage and confidence on children – it’s a project run in schools and fundamental to work values and skills to create a better future. And that’s why I really believe WIN World is not only a business. It is a business with dreams and a great willingness to make those dreams come true!

Although the company has been founded in times of turbulence and economic downturn, WIN World kept on with its enormous desire and capacity to change and improve realities. And, for me, this is what great leaders and great companies are committed to. This is what leadership is about. Change and improve realities.

On September 30th, 2013, I had lunch with Carlota and part of her team in New York City in order to talk about trends and opportunities. Everyone was enthusiastic and there were so many ideas thrown on the table that we ended up creating and inventing new opportunities. “We believe all of us have an enormous role to play”, states Carlota in a compelling call to action. And she adds that “WIN World’s mission is to train and inspire people and organizations to embrace progress”. Yes, indeed! It is a powerful invitation to change the world.WIN World is very sure that “together we can inspire the future!” Isn’t that ambitious? What a Vision! I truly love to be part of it.

Great Leaders create Great Cultures. Carlota has put together a team that takes WIN World beyond herself: Joana Teixeira da Cunha, Mariana Pereira da Silva, Mariana Veloso, Miguel Garvão, Rosário Boavida, Sara Baúto, António Reis Colaço, Benedita Nunes de Almeida, Mariana Fragoso and many more are all passionate about contributing to change the world. By the end of November, in a visit to Portugal, I had the chance to meet this team and an important characteristic is that they are all extremely curious and they remain eternally curious about creativity and learning. Carlota says that when they are recruiting, they look essentially for curious and non-obvious people because this is what brings diversity and maintains the dynamism and the permanent learning culture that enables WIN World to accept greater challenges every day.

Maybe without knowing it, Carlota has written in the company’s DNA the secret of great leaders: Curiosity. That humble recognition that there are many things that I don’t know, with a passionate thirst to learn about them! Curiosity is the key behind learning and creating, behind keeping an open mind and spirit to look at the world with fresh eyes, behind execution and excellence. No doubt that with these assets WIN World is just starting to change the World!
