ACADEMIC BOARDING SPORT MASTERY MORNINGS LEARN TO LEAD WEEKENDS IGNITE PROGRAMME From September 2019 lessons will take place Monday – Friday and no longer take place on Saturday mornings for children in Years 5-8. We have revised the timetable and termly calendar to ensure the number of teaching hours will be retained and we will continue to deliver an outstanding education with high academic standards and results. We offer a strong boarding community, retaining our weekly boarding and flexible options including Friday night boarding. Fridays will become a focus for boarders to enjoy the benefits of a wide range of in- house activities and trips. We will maintain a competitive sports programme for all with high quality coaching. In 2019 we will introduce Sporting Saturdays where we will host tournaments and fixtures on selected Saturday mornings. These will give parents the opportunity to support matches and maintain our strong family community. We are developing a programme of Mastery Mornings on specific Saturdays for Year 7 & 8 children. These mornings will offer the opportunity for external speakers to deliver inspiring master classes and workshops. We will be offering Learn to Lead weekends as part of the Learn to Lead programme. This unique programme teaches communication, leadership and teambuilding and will allow us to develop these skills with camping trips, service in the community and charity fundraising. We have launched our Ignite Programme. Targeting children in the Upper School, the programme aims to spark their imagination, kick start their curiosity and challenge their perceptions through a series of speakers. These will take place during school hours and week day evenings. In order to remain a forward-thinking prep school preparing children for the life beyond Winchester House we are launching our vision for Winchester House 2020. This involves looking at how we improve and develop the School to ensure that Winchester House continues to provide the best possible learning experiences in a warm and purposeful community. This document outlines the key components of this plan. Full details of these elements will follow.
