What is New in Windows 10?
1. The biggest change is the Start Menu
a) You will no longer see the File Explorer or Computer when you click on start.
b) The Shut down and log off button placement has moved into icons.
2. Default Browser is Microsoft Edge
a) This new browser was designed to give Windows users a better experience on the Web.
It's faster, more secure, and includes a lot of new features. Microsoft Edge is meant to
replace Internet Explorer as your default web browser, but you'll still be able to use IE
we use Chrome as our default in the district.
3. Cortana
a) Similar to Siri and Google Now, you can talk to this virtual assistant with your
computer’s microphone.
4. Action Center
a) An Action Center, with notifications and buttons for common system tasks, appears on
the right side. It completely replaces the now‐defunct Charms menu.
5. Windows Media Center does not exist
a) Your guess is as good as ours, because it’s nowhere to be seen on Windows 10. Instead,
Microsoft has replaced it with $15 shareware. Don’t worry, We have installed VLC on all
staff computers so you can still run your DVDs.
6. Virtual Desktops – Multiple Deskops and Task View:
a) Instead of keeping everything open on the same desktop, you can move some of your
windows to a virtual desktop to get them out of the way. And the new Task View
feature makes it easy to manage all of your open windows.
7. What happened to Windows 9?
There was never a Windows 9, Microsoft skipped this number and went to 10 instead. Company
officials decided to choose 10 because they believe this release is a 'Perfect 10' and to also
signify this is the last major release of Windows. There will still be revisions of Windows 10, just
don't expect there to be a Windows 11, Windows 12 etc. Initially revealed at BUILD 2014 as a
minor update called ‘Threshold’, Windows 10 was originally intended be a minor Update 2 for
Windows 8.1. Somewhere along the way, plans changed and the operating system evolved into
the major revision we have today.

Virtual Desktops
Virtual Desktops – Multiple Desktops and Task View:
a) Instead of keeping everything open on the same desktop, you can move some of
your windows to a virtual desktop to get them out of the way. The new Task
View feature makes it easy to manage all of your open windows.
1. Add a desktop
To add a virtual desktop, open up the new Task View pane by clicking the Task View button (two overlapping rectangles) on the taskbar, or by pressing the Windows Key + Tab. In the Task View pane, click New desktop to add a virtual desktop. If you have two or more desktops already open, the "Add a desktop" button will appear as a gray tile with a plus symbol. You can also quickly add a desktop without entering the Task View pane by using the keyboard shortcut Windows Key + Ctrl + D.
2

2. Switch between desktops
To switch between virtual desktops, open the Task View pane and click on the desktop you want to switch to. You can also quickly switch desktops without going into the Task View pane by using the keyboard shortcuts Windows Key + Ctrl + Left Arrow and Windows Key + Ctrl + Right Arrow. At the moment, you can add an unlimited number of virtual desktops -- I stopped at 368 -- but there doesn't appear to be a way to quickly switch to a certain desktop without cycling through all of them with the keyboard shortcuts. The Task View pane only shows nine desktops at a time and has no scrolling functionality, which is likely a bug that will be fixed in the final version of Windows 10.

The windows on that desktop will pop up; find the window you want to move, right-click it, and go to Move to and choose the desktop you want to move the window to.
