WINDSOR ONTARIO MEMBER OF M.A.A.C.
The next meeting will be held at the Windsor Flying Club at 7:30 PM
On Dec. 5th 2016. Our Annual Club Swap Meet.
President’s Report:
Sun Parlor R/C Flyers members, great friends;
This is my last report as your President, I will not make it too long as Bill is waiting
for it, lol.
These last 5 years as your President has not only fulfilled my expectations but
has allowed me to see the hobby thru everyone’s eyes and mind with all the great
ideas, support and intelligence in our club. I know with this experience I have
evolved with a neutral knowledge of listening to all members with their concerns
and issues presented. It has made more aware of the hobby as a whole team

experience as we share knowledge, experiences and mentorships. All I know is
that I have a larger family as a member of this club!
Ok, as some of you know, I have been also heavily involved with Transport
Canada (TC) as a member on the MAAC Transport Canada Committee for the last
year. As you may have heard new Regulations are coming down the pipe. They
are still in discussion mode, as MAAC has made numerous discussions with TC.
The first draft (gazette 1) was to be released in early spring 2017 but has been
moved to June 2017. It will be sent out has info and to permute discussions and
submissions to be received. Later in fall gazette 2 would be released and then full
Regulations to implement in 2018. All I can say right now is that we as modelers
are safe because we fly Recreational . Basically the changes are stated that under
250 grams nothing needed. If you belong to an organization (as Transport Canada
used MAAC as an example in their recent speeches) all should stay the same.
They big change is those that do not belong to an organization and are going to fly
in the air above 250 grams. There will be different weight classes for these with
specific regs. Also the biggest change is that we will all be classed under the UAV,
recreation wording will disappear. So multirotor, helicopter and fixed wing will be
called UAV’s.
So with this happening, MAAC foresees a large influx of members joining. Yes
there will those that will try and continue to test the system but that’s their
decision. All we can do is educate them as best we can, so our hobby is protected
and continues for indefinite. We need to embrace this new way of thinking as it
only takes one bad apple to take an entire group down. Multirotor is here to stay,
it’s only going to grow very fast, so please welcome this new technology because
it is bringing in members from all ages .
Ok, quick reminder that at our next meeting Dec 5th 2016 Monday at 7:30pm
@ the Windsor Flying Club, it is our Annual Swap/Auction event. We will have a
quick general meeting and then the event will follow. Dave Kool has volunteered
to be our Auctioneer. I know we will have lots as we usually do with these. If you

have a large item that you want to sell but not really want to drag in, bring in a
picture with full description of the item. So let’s go through all our unused items
and make some cash to buy other items that we can use from other members.
I do want to remind all that memberships are due on Jan 1 2017 if you are to
use our facilities. Please renew your MAAC if you have not already done so
before had in your Sunparlor RC Application form. Also please fill in the apps
prior to the meeting as an application form is included in this emitter.
See you all soon

Ramblings Off The Green:
This is my first attempt at editing the Emitter.
I want to thank Ron Harway for doing this all these years. I hope I can do as good
a job as he did.
First off I thought I would change the format a little bit, nothing too drastic
because what we had works fine. Just a few font changes with a refreshed look.
Secondly I will attempt to obtain the reports from the executive earlier than a
day before our monthly meetings. This way we can get our Emitter earlier and be
reminded of the up and coming meeting.
Ok, R/C stuff. The weather has been extraordinary for the month of November.
I’m sure the field has been getting a lot of use.
Indoor flying has also begun with light attendance, I’m sure do to the mild
weather. That will change very quickly once the cold sets in. If you haven’t tried it
you don’t know what you’re missing. A great chance to hone your flying skills,
with very little cost. We fly everything from 32” 3d foamies down to small micros
and flying contraptions of all types. Foam airplanes are a great way to experiment
with your own designs and configurations. I have also made up some markers and
gates for some FPV micro quad racing. This should turn out to be a blast.
We are getting inquiries about FPV quad flying from the general public. This may
turn out to be a draw for new members to join the club.

Remember the December meeting is our annual club swap meet. Bring all that
stuff you’re not using any more and lots of money to buy stuff you don’t need.
In closing please contact me on Ideas for after meeting activities. Anything you
think might be of interest to club members or you want to learn yourself.
Regards
Your editor and Chief
