MEDIA GUIDEA PDF version of the Winnipeg Jets Media Guide is available online at:

http://jets.nhl.com/v2/ext/files/1213-Winnipeg-Jets-Media-Guide.pdf GAME PREVIEWThe Winnipeg Jets (13-11-2) find themselves in a dead heat with the New York Rangers (13-10-2) in the Eastern Conference, bothsitting at near identical records with 28 points on the season. The Jets’ toughest opponent in 2011-12 was the Rangers, who they metand lost to four times. The 2012-13 season series is already off to a better start as the Jets have won the only meeting between theclubs –a 4-3 decision at Madison Square Garden on Feb. 26. Evander Kane and Olli Jokinen each scored twice in that game.Entering the Jets-Rangers rematch on Thursday, Kane is on a two-game goal streak. TEAM NOTESThis PK streakA significant point in Tuesday’s game versus Toronto (5-2 W) was a five-on-three penalty kill in the second period that lasted 1:55 andended without a goal by the Maple Leafs. It was the second five-on-three in a week the Jets were able to kill off in full as defended a2:00 five-on-three in Tampa Bay on Mar. 7 (2-1 W). Both are a part of Winnipeg’s streak of 25 consecutive shorthanded situationswithout allowing a power play goal. The streak stretches over nine consecutive games, beginning on Feb. 24 in New Jersey (4-2 W).During the Jets current PK streak, their efficiency has improved from 67.8% (as of Feb. 23) to 77.8%. Game opening goalsWith Nik Antropov opening the scoring on Tuesday versus Toronto (5-2 W), he became the 13th different Jet to score the first goal in agame this season. Only Andrew Ladd has multiple game-opening goals for the Jets. Alexei Ponikarovsky scored the only goal in a 1-0win in Ottawa on Feb. 9 but has since been traded. No other NHL team has had as many different players score the first goal in agame. Both Detroit and St. Louis are the next closest teams with 12 different players to open the scoring in a game this season.TheJets have a record of 9-4-1 when they score first and are 4-7-1 when the opponent scores first. Playoff raceWith teams playing the entire 2012-13 schedule within their conference, there are significant playoff implications and points on the linewith each game. The Rangers and Jets are deadlocked at 28 points, splitting the postseason cut-off line with the eighth and ninth spotsin the East. The Rangers currently hold the tiebreaker by virtue of having one game in hand on the Jets. Winnipeg’s playoff hopes alsolie in their division standings where they sit second place in the Southeast, three points back of Carolina (31 pts) and five points clear ofthird-place Tampa Bay (23 pts). The hit teamThe Jets are sixth in the NHL in recorded hits this season with 699 through 26 games. The physical play has come by committee thisseason for the Jets. The Jets have 12 skaters who have registered 30 hits or more. Evander Kane leads the club with 76 hits. Themost hits by a Jets player in a game is six, which has been accomplished three times (Evander Kane - Jan. 31 at FLA; AlexanderBurmistrov - Feb. 15 vs. PIT; Eric Tangradi - Mar. 2 vs. WSH). The Jets’ top three hitters in 2012-13:

PLAYER NOTESGreat night for AntroNik Antropov was on a roll heading into Tuesday’s game versus Toronto, his former team with whom he played 509 NHL games.Antropov had assists in two straight games then added to his streak with a three-point performance (1G, 2A) versus the Maple Leafs. The last time Antropov had a three-point game was Oct. 27/11 at Philadelphia (9-8 W). He currently has 12 points (2G, 10A) in 26games on the season. Wheeler with another pairJets winger Blake Wheeler scored two goals in the club’s 5-2 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Tuesday. This is the second timethis season that Wheeler has potted two goals in the same contest, as he also scored a pair on Feb. 21 at Carolina (4-3 W). The fifth-year pro has nine two-goal games in his career, including two last season. His career-high for goals in a game is three, which heaccomplished in his 13th career NHL game back in 2008-09 as a member of the Boston Bruins (Nov. 6/08 vs. TOR). Wheeler is secondon the Jets with 21 points (10G, 11A) in 26 games.
