• was an American landscape painter and printmaker

• self-taught, Homer began his career working as a commercial illustrator

• created oil paintings and watercolors • created 600 works of art• in 1998, Homer’s painting “Lost on the Grand

Banks” sold for approximately 30 million dollars

Born in Boston, MA

Died in Prout's Neck, Scarborough, ME
