Our kids have been staying busy with new and exciting things. Justice is now working part-time at Subway as a “Sandwich Artist” while attending both Miramar and Mesa. He’s been doing a great job managing school, work, fitness, socializing, DJing and big brother duties. Aubreigh traded in her Marauder hat for some Falcon wings. Although we miss watching her play for the Lady Marauders, she will be hitting the courts with her travel team. It’s nice to hear what she’s been cooking up in her culinary class at Scripps and taste her latest creations including a blueberry and cream cheese strata she made for Shaye’s birthday – could she be the next Top Chef? Alyannah is enjoying the tail end of her 5th grade year and just toured Marshall Middle School. She celebrated her 11th birthday with 3 of her girlfriends at the SD Ice Arena last January and is continuing to pursue her love for music by taking piano lessons, which she seems to enjoy. Aly also saw snow for the first time at our family trip to Big Bear – she even went tubing down some serious hills! We are proud of Aly for making the Marshall Middle School choir. Ella had a few exciting “firsts” – she met The Fresh Beat Band at their concert last month and attended their VIP party with her cousin Addy. Like her big sister, she saw snow for the first time and went tubing down the big hills with her big brother. Ella also took her first plane ride to Hawaii were she went to the beaches and ate her first Hawaiian Shave Ice. She even got to play with Mickey at the character breakfast at the new Aulani Resort. Ella is very excited to be a Big Sister - in fact all of our kids are very excited to welcome their new Baby Sister in our family!

Borrowed from the February 2012 issue of Woman’s Day magazine, here are 5 new ways to use a hairdryer.

1. Detach a photo from an album. To work a delicate photo-graph off one of those sticky pages, blow warm air onto the back of the page while gently tugging the photo free.

2. Dust tough-to-reach places. Set the dryer on cool and point it at dusty shelves or intricate knickknacks to blow the debris right off. (Start from the highest shelf to make gravity work for you.

3. Dewrinkle plastic shower curtains or table-cloths. Blow hot air onto fresh-out-of-the-bag material to "iron" out wrinkles-just keep the dryer 12 inches from the surface so it won't melt.

4. Perfect frosting or icing. To harden frosting on cakes or cookies, blow cool air directly on it. To brighten a dull finish, give the icing a hit of hot air.

5. Erase crayon marks or wax spills. Kids gone wild? Blow-dry the stain on high until the wax melts, then wipe with a soapy sponge.

Joe recently toured the new 787 DreamLiner, the latest and greatest Boeing creation that he was honored to work on. Here are some highlights of the new aircraft - we hope to travel in one some day in the future! JAL plans to do non-stop flight from SD direct to Tokyo starting in December. Visit http://www.newairplane.com/787/ for more.

Cleaner, Healthier AirFewer complaints of dizziness, headache, eye irritation, dryness due to the the newly intro-duced gaseous filtration system that also removes odors, irritants and gaseous contami-nants.

Spacious, Convenient StowageThe intuitive design of the bins make it easy for passengeres to open, load and close and allow for at least 4 large roll-aboard bags, minimizing the need to store bags beneath seats.

Smoother Ride Through TurbulenceThe 787 is equipped with Smoother Ride Tech-nology which means that it senses turbulence and commands wing control to counter it. This leads to a more comfortable experience and a reduction of passengers who have motion sickness.

Sophia & Mike Valenzuelaon expecting their Baby Girl

Jim & Tania Nuezcaon the arrival of their Baby Girl Aria Janice

Jaylynn Romen & Chima Udengwuon their Engagement & upcoming December wedding

It has been quite an eventful winter for our family! We were fortunate to take our family to San Francisco in December to celebrate the holidays with Jean and Yak; then to Big Bear in February with Michelle, Mike and Cash for some winter fun in the snow; and then finally to Hawaii with Ella, which was her first time on a plane and visiting the island - it was a great way to spend quality time with our youngest, who in a few months will no longer be the “baby” of our family.

The burning question “Are you going to have another one?” has finally been answered, and we feel truly blessed. As you can see, we have been trying to pack a lot in as we await our newest (and final) family member, expected to arrive this August! We will soon be a family of 7 and they say 7 is a lucky number! And did you know in Chinese, the number 7 symbolizes “togetherness”? How perfect is that?

Work is always interesting for us - Joe was excited to tour the new Boeing787 Dreamliner which he worked on and Shaye designed packaging of her company’s product - a first for her. We just celebrated our 5 year anniversary last February with a romantic and delicious dinner prepared by the Gaano kids (thanks kids!!!); a steak dinner at Morton’s in San Diego; and a trip back to Oahu, where we honeymooned 5 years ago. With Baby G expected to arrive this August, this trip was considered our last hoorah (for awhile) before we enter diaper duty once again. The nesting begins as we look forward to the new love of our lives.

We hope you had a memorable winter and are enjoying spring so far! By the time the next issue comes out, we will likely have a new “cover girl”. : ) Take care and we hope to hear from you and see you all very soon.
