    ABOUT ERIN ECKMAN:

Skimming the Surface, by Erin EckmAcrylic 24 x

Erin Eckman was born on the Washington state coast, grew up in New England, ventured south in her teens, an

has been a Charleston, SC resident with her family formore than a decade. A self-taught artist, Erin has enjoyedcollaborating with many local artists, galleries, and groupon a variety of projects.

My artwork is often inspired by history, science, literaturand everyday experience. Im fascinated by how wehumans perceive ourselves and the world around us, howa slight shift in perspective can reveal something entirelynew or even change reality. I blend memory, symbolism, and free association to explore the passage of time, thestories we tell, the curiosity that drives human nature, anour struggle to comprehend them all. The mediums I useare chosen for their versatility. Using a variety of tools indifferent ways enables me to convey the characteristics anuances of my subjects.
