EDITOR’S NOTE

This edition we’re celebrating the opening of The Jolly Miller Cafe in the Williams Landing Shopping Centre, the announcement of a $35 million TriCare aged care facility, and our calendar of school holiday events.

As always, there’s lots going on in William Landing, town centre and shopping centre which we’re excited to share with you in this winter edition newsletter.

The latest Williams Landing news has landed

Nathan BlackburneState Manager Victoria & Queensland at Cedar Woods

TRICARE TO OPEN IN WILLIAMS LANDING Cedar Woods has sold a parcel of land to TriCare for the development of a $35 million aged care facility. Owned and operated by TriCare, the aged care facility will be the first in Williams Landing and will initially provide accommodation for up to 120 residents.

Future stages are planned to almost double the size of the facility.

The new facility caters to the demand for increased aged care in the western region of Melbourne, and is part of Cedar Woods’ commitment to develop a true multi-generational community.

Its location within the town centre enables easy access for family and allows residents to remain active within the walkable Williams Landing community.

TriCare Director Peter O’Shea says the company chose the Williams Landing location because of the easy transport access and amenities.

The announcement is yet another step forward in the evolution of the Williams Landing Town Centre.

BUSINESS PROFILECOMING SOON

WILLIAMS LANDING WELCOMES THE JOLLY MILLER CAFECedar Woods is pleased to announce the opening of Williams Landing’s first café. The Jolly Miller will offer high-quality homemade breakfast and lunch options, delicious cakes and smoothies, plus their famous Nutella cookies.

The cafe will provide Williams Landing with a friendly environment for local residents to get together and enjoy barista-made coffee.

The Jolly Miller started in the early ‘90s as a family bakery in Gisborne (55 kilometres north west of Melbourne), and today they have nine locations across Victoria.

Director of The Jolly Miller Group, Rimon Barbar says the growing population of Williams Landing and the western suburbs catchment area made it a perfect choice for The Jolly Miller cafe.

As the suburb continues to grow, so too will the lifestyle offerings.

What’s the history of The Jolly Miller cafe? The Jolly Miller Cafe is a family business owned by three brothers. It started all the way back in 1990 as a corner bakery in the country town of Gisborne in Victoria’s Macedon Ranges. The brothers purchased the business in 2006 as a single site location, and now have nine store locations across Victoria, plus a central state-of-the-art kitchen.

Why has The Jolly Miller been so successful? We knew from the day we purchased the original location that customers would love our products. Everything is made onsite, and we immediately received requests from customers to expand. People from all parts of Victoria were visiting our store for the great products and customer service. To this day, we continue with the same tried-and-true recipes and everything is still handmade.

What are your menu offerings? We now have a state-of-the-art central kitchen, and a wide range of products, while still keeping our original staples. Over the past 25 years, we have transitioned from a bakery into a cafe group primarily focused on coffee and food.

Who developed The Jolly Miller menu? Our menu has been developed over the last 25 years, in conjunction with our head chefs. We focus particularly on breakfast, lunch and light meals to accompany our diverse range of sweets and custom-blend coffee.

LOCAL BUSINESS PROFILE RIMON BARBER OF THE JOLLY MILLER CAFE

Why did you decide to open a location in Williams Landing? We decided to open a store in Williams Landing as it perfectly fits our selection criteria – a suburb with a growing population in Melbourne’s booming western suburbs’ catchment area. We like the site location being at the entrance of a shopping centre, with a supermarket as its anchor tenant.

When will you be open for business?

“We are aiming to be open for business in late June. We will be offering a FREE small coffee to all customers within the first week of opening!”

WILLIAMS LANDING INTRODUCES TRAIN STATION PARKING

Ace Parking has worked with Cedar Woods to open a commuter car park immediately adjacent to the Williams Landing Train Station, offering an introductory offer of a $2 flat rate for 12 hours of car parking.

The car park will be operated by Ace Parking – a Melbourne-based business that provides parking solutions for businesses and organisations including Australian Parliament and VicRoads.

The car park will launch with approximately 300 car spaces, with the ability to expand further pending demand.

“Ace Parking and Cedar Woods are offering a large scale, low-cost solution for this burgeoning community located within 50 metres of the train station,” says Richard Curtain of Ace Parking.

The parking is located at the Corner of Overton Road and Kendall Street, offering casual parking, train station parking, commuter parking and weekend parking.

The parking will be open 24 hours, seven days a week.

Why did you choose Williams Landing?

I’ve moved to Truganina three years ago and in that time I’ve have seen a lot of long-term positive changes and sustainable improvements in Williams Landing – including the train station, shopping centre, new roads and landscaping. I believe there’s more to come. Looking forward to it!

What did you like about Newton Apartments?

I loved the location of the apartment (proximity to train and freeway), and of course, Newton Apartments is walking distance to my favourite yoga studio. Namaste.

Why did you choose an apartment, rather than a house?

For someone who’s living alone, it’s easier to maintain an apartment rather than a house. I have plenty of room for family and friends visiting from interstate of overseas.

FUTURE RESIDENT PROFILE BENA ISHMAELAccountant Bena Ishamel purchased one of Williams Landing’s first apartments and can’t wait to become part of the thriving community when they’re finished in 2017.

Newton Apartments are sold out, and will feature 57 apartments comprising one and two bedroom apartments across four storeys.
