PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

As usual, the 12 weeks of summer came and went with a blink of an eye, and the warmweeks of October were a welcome transition into the winter months.

Before I highlight some of the new recreational programs we have to offer, I have some“I Can’t Believe It” news to share with you.

On October 3, 2011, Gov. Pat Quinn announced that the New Lenox Community Park Districtwas one of 22 communities statewide that will benefit from the “Illinois Jobs Now” CapitalConstruction Program. The New Lenox Community Park District, as grant sponsor on behalfof the Lincolnway Special Recreation Association, along with our co-op partners, Frankfort,Manhattan, Mokena and Peotone Park Districts, submitted a $2.5 million grant back inNovember 2010 to build a recreation center for the Lincolnway Special RecreationAssociation. I can’t believe it, we got it! This new $4.5 million recreation facility will be builton the south side of New Lenox and will serve all the residents from the five park districtsthat have special needs participants. This recreation center, along with the $372,000 grantfrom the Illinois Department of Natural Resources “OSLAD” program that we received toredevelop the Countryview/Royal Meadows Park, means that over $5 million of newconstruction will take place within the New Lenox Community Park District borders over thenext two years and at No Additional Cost to the Taxpayers!

Through planning, saving, grant money and support from our local legislators down inSpringfield, these two important projects will finally become a reality. Look for a GrandOpening for both of these projects sometime in 2013. We will be sure to keep you updatedon the progress.

Some of the new recreational programs that I would like to highlight include:• Polar Bear Pool Party Plunge ~ A FREE Family Event.• Famous Author Family Reading Night ~ A FREE Family Event sponsored by your local Target store.• Numerous Fishing Programs ~ Most of which are FREE, thanks to our “Take Me Fishing Grant” sponsored by the Recreational Boating and Fishing Foundation together with the National Recreation and Parks Association• Drop-in programs at your local high schools, designed to keep your teens, adults andfamilies active this winter.

These are just a few of the many recreational programs that your park district has to offer. Please take a minute to browse through this catalog and choose a program that peaks yourinterest. You’ll be glad you did!

Be healthy and stay active!

Early Childhood Program Requirements• Children must be the correct age by 9/1/11, unless otherwise specified. In order to provide your child with the best possible recreational and/or learning experience, all of our programs are planned according to the ages listed in our brochure.

• Classes are for child attending only, except for classes with an adult. Parents should not remain in the classroom or gymnasium after dropping off their child. This is in the child’s best interest, as continual interruptions tend to affect participant’s attention span and inhibit the establishment of peerrelationships.

• All children must be potty-trained, unless they are attending a class where an adult stays with them or otherwise stated in the class description. Diapers are not permitted in independent classes unless stated in the class description.

• Please do not bring food to any class, unless previously arranged.• For your children’s safety, all children enrolled in preschool-age programs must be picked up from the specific classroom or program site by their parents or designated guardian. No child will be released from the classroom to anyone other than these individuals.

• A mandatory sign-in and sign-out procedure for all participants is required for all Park District Programs.

Please Note:A mandatory sign-in and sign-out procedurefor all participants is required for all ParkDistrict Programs.

Many of the programs in this catalog are longersessions than those in the previous catalog.

Register Now…Don’t Delay!Program limits will be adhered to. If you wait too long, the class may be full or cancelled due to low enrollment.

We no longer accept pre-registration forcontinuous programs, so you may registerfor any section of any program. THIS DOES NOT APPLY TO DANCE ORKIDDIE KAMPUS!

Kiddie Kampus/KinderPlus 2012-2013 – Open House Before you make that important step of choosing the right preschool for your child, come for a tour of our facility and seewhat we have to offer! Our staff will be on hand to give tours of their classrooms and answer any questions you mayhave! Our open house will be Mon., Feb. 20 from 6:00-8:00pm at our Lions Community Center location. Come andmeet the teachers and see what we are all about!

Kiddie Kampus 2012-2013 Ages 3-4 (as of 9/1/12)Resident Registration Date: Saturday, March 248:00-11:00am (Doors open at 7:00am)LCC (Room 1) Entry COut-of-District Registration begins Monday, April 2

We have devised a payment plan to make it easier for our Kiddie Kampus parents in this challenging economy. At time of registration, we are asking for a non-refundable $50 registration fee along with a tee-shirt fee of $10(if needed) and your first month’s tuition. The next payment will not be due until Sept. 15, 2012. Subsequent feesare then divided into 8 equal monthly payments, due by the 15th of the previous month. A late fee of $15 will beaccessed to any account that payment had not been made by that date. Payment-in-full would still be accepted ifthat would better suit your needs. We will waive the $50 registration fee to all accounts paid in full on the day of registration.

What does Kiddie Kampus offer its participants? Children learn many things before going to kindergarten. The New Lenox Community Park District offers preschool classesdesigned to develop social, emotional and physical skills to ensure school readiness. A child’s separation from parents andinvolvement with a non-family member is one of many major steps towards his/her development. Kiddie Kampus provides asafe and supportive environment for your child’s first school experience while increasing his/her self-esteem and confidencethrough age appropriate instruction. Covered during the year are color, shape and number recognition, an introduction tonumber concepts and letter recognition. Your child’s quest for learning will be nurtured through creative play, buildingfriendships, working individually and cooperating as part of a group. These activities promote patience, sharing and theawareness that there is a whole world of people surrounding and supporting them. Songs, stories, activities and games areused for reinforcement and fun.

What requirements are necessary for Kiddie Kampus registration?1. A copy of your child’s birth certificate MUST be provided at registration. A child must be four (three for the 3 year old program), on or before Sept. 1, 2012 and must be able to handle bathroom hygiene independently (potty trained, no diapers). It is very helpful if the child is able to zip/button independently.

2. A $50.00 non-refundable registration fee, $10.00 T-shirt fee and first month’s tuition will be collected, beginning Saturday, March 24, 2012 from 8:00am-11:00pm, when you pre-register your child.

3. A voter’s card or tax bill is required at registration for verification of residency.

Our Kiddie Kampus follows New Lenox School District #122’s calendar year for all full days off except for our winter break. Kiddie Kampus ends Dec. 8 and/or Dec. 9 for the winter session. We resume classes on Jan. 5, 2013.
