Director’s MessageIt sure seems like winter came early this year. I kept thinking the subzero weather made early December feel more like Valentine’s Day than Christmas. Cancelling evening activities because of snow in December seemed awfully close to the snow day we had back in April, just 8 short months earlier. I guess we all better settle in for another long Minnesota winter.

I hate the thought of anyone dreading whole big chunks of the year. We worked hard to plan some activities that will get you excited about the upcoming months, even while the temperatures drop and the snowbanks grow. We are fortunate here in Foley to have lots of wonderful facilities to make use of when it is unpleasant outside. We have the Fieldhouse and Fitness Center available for working off the winter blues. See page 12 to get your pass. The pool will be busy with swim lessons, open swim, Water Aerobics, and lap swimming. Check out page 7 for details. There will be Pickleball, Boot Camp (now including an early morning class!), Spinning, Zumba, and Dodgeball in various gyms. The schedule for those classes is on page 10. We are even filling up the cafeterias! We have Fencing for kids and Ballroom Dance for adults in the Intermediate School and family fun nights in the Elementary School. Get information on those activities on pages 5 and 14.

My personal philosophy for dealing with winter is to either escape to warmer climates or find something to look forward to, even as the snow blows. I hope every member of your family finds an opportunity here to hone a skill, enhance a resume, practice a hobby, try something new, and have fun with family and friends.

In Partnership for Education, Cori Reynolds
