Winter Storms

• Heavy snowfall and extreme cold can immobilize many people.

• Winter storms can result in flooding, storm surge, closed highways, blocked roads, downed power lines and hypothermia.

Freezing Rain

• Causing a coating of ice on every surface it hits.

• Creating driving, and other tasks very difficult.

Sleet

• Rain that turns to ice pellets before reaching the ground.

• This creates moisture on the roads, and it freezes.

• A winter storm is possible in your area.

• You should take necessary precautions.

Winter Storm Warning

• A winter storm is occurring or will soon occur in your area.

• You should take necessary precautions.

Blizzard Warning

• Sustained winds or frequent gusts to 35 miles per hour or greater amounts of falling/blowing snow are expected within 3 or more hours.

Frost/ Freeze Warning

• Below freezing temperatures are expected.
