CONDITIONS OF ENTRY

1. Entering this competition constitutes acknowledgement that PCAV rules apply and acceptance of these rules.

2. Neither the organizing committee of this event or the PCAV accepts any responsibility whatsoever for any accident, damage, injury or illness to horses, riders, ground spectators or any other person or property.

3. Open competitors must complete and sign a Liability Declaration Form 2016-17 as per current PCAV insurance guidelines. In addition, where current PCAV/HRCAV/EA membership or other adequate insurance cover cannot be provided, a $10 Day Participant Fee must also be paid. For more information, click: Public Liability & Day Participants at ponyclubvic.org. Bring completed form with you as there will not be any at the Secretary’s office. Please ensure you collect the issued sticker which must be worn on your armband.

4. Pony Club members must present PCAV Membership cards for inspection to the secretary’s office prior to riding. Full Pony Club uniform to be worn in rings 2 &

3. No “Verification Forms” will be available so “No card, No ride” will apply. 5. Gear check is compulsory for Pony Club members. For non-PCAV members, gear check is required if entering Handy Mount. Gear Check will be open from 8am onwards. 6. Medical armbands must be worn by all riders, including Open Riders – Arm bands will be available for purchase on the day of the competition. 7. No refund on unused tickets. 8. The judge’s decision is final. Queries, protests, horse abuse as per the PCAV Handbook of by-laws. 9. No stallions, colts, rigs or dogs allowed. Failure to adhere to this condition will result in expulsion from the grounds.

10. Findon PC organizing committee reserves the right to cancel any class or competition; divide or combine any class; alter times or refuse entry with or

without stating the reason. 11. A competitor receiving a championship is ineligible to compete in the same event in another ring.

12. All competitors must wear PCAV compliant helmets and boots as specified in PCAV Gear Rules when mounted. 13. “Novice” is a horse or rider who has not won a first place in a similar class at any Open Show or Gymkhana. 14. PCAV Alcohol policy applies – alcohol consumption is not allowed for anyone on the grounds during the event. 15. Pony Club Rider (Ring 3) - 8 years and under may compete accompanied or unaccompanied, not both. 16. Snaffle bits only in rings 2 and 3. 17. Proof of age may be required if requested for all rings. Age of rider is taken as at the day of the Gymkhana. 18. A confined lunging area is available until 8.45am sharp. After this, there is no

lunging permitted as it will be the designated warm up area.

Open competitors please note: Classes dictate Pony, Galloway, Hack or Show Hunter. A horse/pony cannot compete in Show classes and Show

Hunter classes.

The handy mount course will commence on completion of the Topsy Ring and will run all afternoon. The handy mount course is run on accuracy and against the clock, therefore the fastest time may not win. Course MUST be completed properly in order to record a time. Day entry is $5.00 per run and you can enter as many times as you like.

This ring is for beginners / genuine Topsy riders only. No jackets or plaited horses / ponies allowed.

Approved helmets and boots must be worn in all classes. Pony Club uniform is allowed.

All riders may have assistance where required.

If entering the Fancy Dress class, all competitors must wear approved helmets and boots. Pony Club members must wear medical armbands (on the arm only) and on the outside of the

costume. Costume enhancements to the horse’s legs with the exception of equine specific gear is not permitted.

If intending to ride in the Open Ring please include PCV Liability Declaration form, some horse riding associations will be covered for insurance but if not, complete Day Attendance and pay the $10 fee. No forms will be available at the Secretary’s Office as riders will need to supply their own to save time on the morning of the event. Forms are available at www.ponyclubvic.org

Riders Without Horses Program

Here at Findon Pony Club, we offer an introductory course to children who don’t own a horse of their own, giving them an opportunity to be a part of the Pony Club movement. It is an amazing opportunity for children to gain a better understanding of horsemanship and the commitment required to be able to own their own horse. It is also a great experience for their parents. With riding being only one aspect of horse ownership, members will learn basic horse handling and safety skills, as they work through the program in a safe and controlled environment. Our riders without horse’s program encourages participants to work their way through gaining a basic level pony club certification not only hands on activities, but also theoretical learning and discussions. At the end of the program, the child will have had exposure to:

• Basic riding • Catching and releasing a horse • Leading • Tying up • Rugging • Grooming • Feeding • Putting on a bridle • Colours and markings • Basic anatomy
