Introduction

WinTV-HVR-900 is a USB Hybrid stick for the PC that allows you to view digital terrestrial tele-

vision (DVB-t) and also the conventional analog cable or antenna television on your DesktopPC or Laptop screen.

The reception of conventional analog teleivision signals in the UK is starting to be reducedand replaced with Digital Video Broadcast (DVB-T) as DVB-T will replace analog broadcast inline with the Goverments broadcasting switch over date of 2012. The advantages of DVB-T isbetter picture and sound quality, and a greater choice of TV, Radio channels.

The WinTV-HVR-900 uses the supplied portable or a rootop aerial in much the same way that

most people currently receive their analog television programmes. Some viewers will need toreplace their aerials to receive digital terrestrial transmissions if the installation is old or in poorcondition. Coverage is good and improving all the time as digital terrestrial television transmit-ters are continuously being brought on-line, however it may take some time for coverage toreach particular areas of the country:

Snap Shot Settings

Snapshot Capture supports capture of still images in a variety of file formats.

Capture resolution

Capture Resolution Images in WinTV are captured at the maximum resolution. When the imageis saved to a file name (below), you select a resolution for the snapshot, from 320 x 240 (mini-mum) to 1600 x 1200 (full image).

Fields CapturedFields Captured Broadcast video uses an interlaced format, in which the odd-numbered scan-lines and even-numbered scanlines are displayed separately; the eye combines them into asmooth image. On the computer SVGA output, both fields are displayed at once.

When taking a snapshot of a video image with little motion, Capture 2 Fields produces themost data and the clearest image. However, when taking a snapshot of a video image contain-ing motion, capturing both fields may result in a blurred image. Therefore, use Capture 1 Fieldfor best results.

Experiment with these settings to achieve the desired results.
