Underutilized office spaceBackground• The company wanted to invest

substantially in the design of its workplace, located on three floors in a mid-town New York building.

• At nearly 90,000 sq. ft., the company was spending well over $6 million a year in real estate expenses on the leased office space.

Problem• The company wanted to

understand if its office spaces were being utilized efficiently in the expensive New York market.

Space Implementation• The firm implemented the Space application to track utilization data

on three floors of the office spaces, covering private offices, open area desks, conference rooms, focus booths and collaborative areas.

• The collected data identified that the offices had a peak utilization of 51 percent and an average utilization of 30 percent.
