I am so pleased to announce, for the second year in a row, we have sent income and program funding records. Thanks to a dedicated board and strong leadership, the Wisconsin 4-H Foundation not only set a new record for gifts received, but surpassed our fiscal goal in doing so! Fiscal year 2007-2008 was a great year raising support for our 4-H youth and their leaders.

This success is due entirely to YOUR help and dedication to Wisconsin 4-H. Our donors have all been generous indeed. Corporations, individuals, county 4-H leaders associations and foundations all gave in unpre-cedented amounts. We saw a record of new endowment funds established. We acquired new corporate partners. Our State 4-H Sponsor program did much better than expected, and our fund raising events were very success-ful. Yes, FY 2007-2008 was a very fine year for us, and for Wisconsin 4-H.

But even as I write this message to you, our invest-ments have taken another big drop. The economy looks more and more grim every day. It is at this precise time that we most need your help. I know we all face tough times ahead, but I also know that if we stand together we can continue to keep Wisconsin 4-H successful in providing positive learning experiences for our youth.

Wisconsin volunteers donate thousands of hours to 4-H, our youth work on hundreds of community service projects, and our 4-H staff provide dedicated expertise – all of these make Wisconsin 4-H strong. And your gifts are a valuable part of our 4-H success.

Please, as the economic times get tighter, remember the good that 4-H has done and continues to do. Remember your gifts to the Foundation do have a large impact on our youth and their future. Remember all gifts are valuable and needed.

Thank you!

Patricia Harrington, Executive Director Wisconsin 4-H Foundation

Fund Raising Events

WISCONSIN 4-H FOUNDATION

Purpose - to enhance statewide 4-H by investing in Wisconsin’s 4-H Youth … Leaders of tomorrow.

Mission - generate resources to invest in successful 4-H Youth development programs.

Vision - Wisconsin 4-H foundation, inc. will be a dynamic leader in expanding statewide support for 4-H Youth development.

College ScholarshipsThis year, the 4-H Foundation, thanks to several generous donors, was able to help 25 youth to attend college and advance their education. These young people all exhibit outstanding leadership and academic skills, as well as having had a variety of 4-H experiences. Community Service GrantsCommunity service has always been a part of Wisconsin 4-H, and each 4-H club does an average of five community service projects every year. To help 4-H youth have a greater impact on their communities, small grants are given out to clubs who are making a difference, involving other groups, and are led by the youth. Wisconsin 4-H Key AwardsThe top 4-H leadership recognition in the state, this award highlights a few youth in each county who have displayed sustained growth in their leadership skills. A Key Award is one of the highest achievements a youth can receive and is highly valued by past recipients. Multicultural EducationMulticultural education both involves youth of diverse backgrounds in 4-H and also educates all youth on the great cultural diversity of our state and our world. Multicultural education plays a role in all program areas, as well as having its own stand-alone activities.

“4-H has taught me a lot about leadership and the value of a good leader. I have learned to work through problems instead of around them. I know 4-H has prepared me for real life with skills I can use in the workforce and throughout my life. It has

given me confidence that I will carry into adulthood …” — Recent 4-H Alumni, Bayfield County

“Through 4-H, I have learned to take a better photo, to can fresh produce, sew a quilt and much more: however, the most important skills I learned are intangible such as encouraging beginning 4-H members, listening when being taught, having patience during difficult moments, and learning how to win and lose graciously.” — Kaitlyn, Bayfield County
