interpersonal communication, practical knowledge and vocational preparation.

WLA Keynote Speaker
Luke M. Klefstad is a Residence Hall Director at Macalester College, where Luke develops and delivers educational opportunities for college students outside of the classroom, including
supporting students in navigating their college experience, assisting students during and after emotional and physical crises, and helping students discover and explore their personal and social identities.
Luke has worked in higher education professionally for the past three years, after graduating with his master’s degree in Counseling and Student Development from Kansas State University in 2016. He has been heavily involved in the residential life and housing profession for the past eight years and has been awarded Advisor of the Year for his work with students from two different universities. His current passion areas include student leadership and curriculum development.
Luke enjoys adventuring around the Minneapolis-St. Paul area and is always searching for the best coffee shop.

Your Story-The Science of Happiness The keynote speaker break-out session will enable members to identify what is valued about a significant interpersonal relationship and how they can share with that other person on how that person made a difference in their life. STAR of the Story Anyone that needs help with their projects, or wants to compete in STAR events, this is the session for you. We will update you on the changes to STAR events and go through pro tips on a great project. Presented by Jessica Vinger Planning Your Story This session focuses on planning your story through the Program of Work. Learning about SMART Goals and teamwork along the way. Presented by Halaynna Macharia Starting Your Story Are you new to FCCLA? Do you want to learn more about what you can do in FCCLA? If so, this session is for you! We will cover the basics of FCCLA, all the opportunities FCCLA presents, and we will create FCCLA goals. We will also create a fun time capsule to look back upon! Come and see what fun you can have in FCCLA and how you can shape your own FCCLA story! Presented by Abby Marty The Power of Your Story You will learn the qualities needed to tell the most epic story ever as well as how to give killer speeches! You will finally know how to respond when somebody comes up to you and asks What is FCCLA? Additionally, you’ll learn how to advocate your individual chapter story so you can get recognized at the State or even National level! Make your story the Ultimate Leadership Experience in “The Power of Your Story”. Presented by Destiny Kempf The Story Continues… You’re a member… congratulations…. Now what? Ever wonder what is beyond the competitive events and traveling… this session will explore the FCCLA National Programs and Scholarships. We will also touch on how to tell your FCCLA story in your communities to help you generate funds for chapter activities and members. Presented by Jacob Bell Your Story= 3R’s Learn about what it means to recruit, retain, and recognize members in your chapter. Enjoy some fun music while learning ways to accomplish the three R’s as well as award opportunities and membership activities available to you and your chapter! Presented by Samantha Kelly Regional Representatives This session is invitation only. This session is for regional representatives only. You will review your responsibilities of your new leadership role and help you become a strong leader in the process. This is mandatory for all regional representatives.
