The Tackle BoxEvery year we are lucky enough to enjoy new and exciting
tackle, and I have found another one that I think could be of interest to the Bass fishermen. It is a new weedless lead head lure and the name is Wrangler.
Wrangler is made in the USA, is available in 3 states now, and is looking for more retailers or distributors.
The website is www.wranglerleadheads.com and you can see the complete lineup of the new lure. There are also some videos on YouTube to see how they work, and how to rig them, to take advantage of the weedless benefit of the lure.
What I like about this is first, it is made in the USA and that it is an upstart company, and as such, I like to support their grassroots foundation.
Colors and sizes are quite varied and I know I have many plastics that would work well with this lead head lure, and if you check out the website, you can investigate if any of them tempt you like they did me.
Fun to try something new and interesting and at the same time, support some American entrepreneurial spirit.
I would be interested if anyone has any great results when the ability to use this lure comes this season, so if you are one who purchased any of these lures, be sure to let us know how it worked for you!
Season countdown to opening weekend is down to days and minutes....
Waiting, impatiently....

“We are the hub of the business community, promoting commerce and tourism making La Pine a vibrant community to work, live and play!”
ANYTIME FITNESS • OWNERS GEORGE & BRIDGET KOHLERSo, George and Bridget, when did you take over your business? “We bought the business and reopened on March 15th.”Who are the main players at Anytime Fitness? “Right now it is the two of us, and we keep regular staff hours between 9 and 5, Monday through Friday, and we check in over the weekend, because our members can access the building for use ‘any time’!”Why do you work, live and play in La Pine? “We have been here for fi ve years. Originally, we moved here for the lifestyle because we like the out-of-doors: fi shing, camping, golf. Now we are a part of the community and with the new business, we are busy working!”What is the potential for growth at Anytime? Bridget said, “We need to get more members, but is as much about educating about the benefi ts of using diff erent equipment, weights and training techniques, as it is about growing the business.” George, who is a physical therapist and an IWA certifi ed weight trainer (International Weightlifting Association) added, “I would like to add physical therapy right on site as an addition to the regular training and equipment off erings.” People could use the equipment and individual training to gain strength and therapize. What is your business’s greatest challenge? George said, “We want to make sure that members are happy.” Bridget added, “Improving customer service and overcoming the problems that were left from the previous owners; staff on site, cleanliness, maintenance of the equipment are the fi rst things that we will do consistently to improve and overcome the challenges.”What is the biggest highlight of your career? “I think that having our own business is a dream come true and the great thing is that now, when we are out in the community, we run into our members and get to know them better.”What do you do to relax? Bridget continued, “Who can relax? We like to do the things that we moved here to do, but with a 3-year-old and a new business, we can talk about relaxing later!”Tell us something about yourself that few people know about: “Bridget explained, “I have a Masters in Anthropology and went into fi nancial planning with Ameriprise (American Express’ division for fi nancial investing), where I ended up running six stores for them.” George is a ‘guitar playing’ physical therapist who worked in the town of La Pine.In terms of volunteering in the community, what is your personal contribution to the community? “We have just joined the Chamber of Commerce and are looking forward to becoming active members. After the business is up and running to our satisfaction, we will do more volunteering at local businesses and schools to educate employees and students about fi tness.”What are your plans for the future? “We plan to add a physical therapy component to the business. In the meantime, we will host an after-hours event for fellow Chamber members on May 10th, and then we will have a grand re-opening for the public the fi rst part of June.”What advice would you give to community leaders? George joked, “If you have a desk job, join the gym!” (He explained that when people are fi t, they are more productive.)Do you have a mission? George: “We are thinking about building our mission around the ‘philosophy of good customer service’. We want people to feel good about coming here knowing we can help them work effi ciently to lose weight, strengthen their bodies, gain balance and fl exibility, age gracefully and reach their fi tness goals. It will take consistent customer service on our part to make that happen for our members!”Anytime Fitness, 16487 Bluewood Place, La Pine • 541-536-9779 • e-mail: lapineor@anytimefi tness.com

OBITUARYIn loving memory of Adelina Espiritu Pido, December 23, 1915-March 25, 2011, Pasig City, Philippines.
“The Lord gave and the Lord hath taken away”. Job 1:22.
We love you very much and we will miss you terribly.

Justin Flores-Collantes; Sheilah and Shedrick Flores-Ronque; and the entire Pido family.
Fred William BoehlkeSeptember 26, 1927 - April 4, 2011
OBITUARYFred William Boehlke of La Pine, Oregon, passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Monday, April 4, 2011, of renal failure. He was 83.
Fred was born September 26, 1927, in San Diego, California, to Frederick and Dolores (Piper) Boehlke. In 1945, Fred enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served in the Medical
Corps, as part of “The Big Red One,” during World War II. In 1964, Fred married Mary Ann Ambler in Portland, Oregon. He spent much of his life working as both a land surveyor and commercial truck driver, retiring in 1973. The couple moved to La Pine, Oregon in 1986.
Fred was a man who found happiness in many places. He and his wife, Mary Ann were enthusiastic RVers who were fortunate to go on many journeys together. He also loved his dogs (Boxers) and enjoyed several of them throughout the years. He was a member of the American Legion of La Pine, Oregon, and took a Demit from the Fraternal Order of Elks in Milwaukee, Oregon.
Fred is survived by his wife of 46 years, Mary Ann Boehlke of La Pine, Oregon; his sons, Thomas Boehlke of Anderson, California, and Robert and Fred Eldred of Redding, California; and his step-daughter, Adelle Kelley. Other survivors include his brother, Thomas G. Boehlke of Bend, Oregon; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made in Fred’s memory to Partners In Care Hospice, 2075 N.E. Wyatt Court, Bend, OR 97701.

William (Bill) FrazorApril 25, 1935 - April 5, 2011
OBITUARYWilliam (Bill) Marion Frazor of Gilchrist, Oregon went peacefully to his heavenly home at 7:15 a.m., Tuesday while at St. Charles Medical Center in Bend. He was 75 years old. The cause was complications from pneumonia.
A funeral service will be held at the First Baptist Church of Crescent, located at 136463 Main St. in Crescent, on Wednesday, April 13th, at 9:00 a.m., followed by a funeral procession to
Eagle Point National Cemetery for a graveside service with military honors beginning at 2:00 p.m.
Bill was born to James and Virginia (Rosenquist) Frazor in Neosho Rapids, Kansas and grew up in Texas. Bill was born 30 minutes before his identical twin George (Bud). They were the youngest of five children.
Bill met his wife, Marsha in Cibola, Arizona, and they were married on May 3, 2000, almost 11 years. Bill was a Korean veteran and served in the Army. From that time until present, he struggled with severe PTSD and it would take him in the wilderness from time to time. Marsha stuck with him during this difficult experience because they both loved the Lord, and grew stronger in their faith from those trials.
Bill had many adventures and lived in many places. He loved to tell about them. He enjoyed fishing, hiking, camping, reading, building fences, and fixing things. He worked most of his life in the oil fields of Texas.
Bill’s greatest love was studying God’s Word, the Bible, everyday for hours and discussing it with his wife and others. He loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and told everyone about the gospel.
Bill and his wife were very active members of the First Baptist Church of Crescent. He loved his church family and all his friends in Gilchrist and Crescent. He looked forward to being with his church brothers at the 7:00 a.m. Wednesday Men’s Bible Study. He loved playing cribbage once a month with them.
Bill lived at the “Prairie House” for the last 10 months and was lovingly cared for there. He continued going to bible study there and he loved playing bingo. Bill especially enjoyed having his good friend from church, Frank Banka, come there to visit and play cribbage once a week with him.
We will all remember his great sense of humor, his kind, gentle and soft spoken ways as he told us his adventures in his “Texas” accent. He was always ready to help others.
A question from his bible study book asked: How has nature helped you think about and worship God? Bill wrote: “The quietness of the stars at night and the songs of the birds in the morning and the night birds cooing.” Then Bill wrote “To all of us who are faithful to Him, His love is our strength and all who trust in God’s ways who forms our hearts and fear Him, whose hope is in His unfailing love.”
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, James (died age 12), his sister, Roberta, and his twin brother George (Bud).
Bill is survived by his wife, Marsha Frazor; brother David (Pat) Frazor, sister-in-law Ann Frazor; nephews Jimmy Frazor, James Proffit, and nieces Norma Barnes, Anita Proffit, Laura Frazor - all from Texas. Step-children Kindra , Scott and Jonas; and two grandchildren, Dylan and Julian.
So good-bye Bill until we are together again. You left before I could get there, but this time I know where you are and where you went. Now you have the peace that your mind went in search of all those times in the wilderness, now you are in the “fullness of His presence.” I love you always, your wife Marsha.
Contributions to help the family with burial expenses would be appreciated and can be made at South Valley Bank and Trust.

DOG OBESITY
Sponsored By: La Pine Pet Bed N Bath • 541-536-5355
Dog obesity is an increasing problem in our pet population with serious consequences. Humans are the main cause of obesity in dogs by overfeed-ing or feeding the wrong kind of food. Other determining factors include:ACTIVITY LEVEL: an active dog uses more calories and is less likely to eat more because of boredom or stress.GENETICS AND BREED PREDISPOSITIONS: Some breeds are more prone to becom-ing overweight and should be monitored more closely.MULTIPLE PET HOUSEHOLDS: A dog may eat more simply because of other pets.DISEASE: Less than 5% of obesity cases are caused by heart, thyroid, or other metabolic disorders.
WHEN IS A DOG CONSIDERED FAT?You should be able to feel your dog’s ribs and there should be a slight amount of fat over them, but each rib should be distinct. If you can’t feel them, the dog is overweight. The same is true for the spine, shoulder and hips. The dog should have a definite waist; if the area between the ribs and hips is wider than the hips or ribs, the dog is overweight.
HEALTH RISKSObesity in dogs places extra demands on virtually every organ in the body, and can cause any or all of the following: diabetes; damage to joints, bones, and ligaments; heart disease and increased blood pressure; difficulty breathing; decreased liver function; increased surgical and anesthetic risk; reproductive problems; digestive disorders; decreased immune function; skin and hair coat problems; increased risk of cancer; and decreased quality and length of life.
Prevention is easier than taking off excess weight. Feed dogs according to their activity level, size, and age. We control what and how much our dogs eat, and we are not helping them when we give them excessive or inappro-priate treats.
