Come Celebrate the
15th ANNIVERSARY of the
Bogue Banks Boogie,
originated by the Down East
Folk Arts Society (DEFAS) in
1997 and run by the Cape Fear Contra Dancers
(CFCD) of Wilmington, NC since 2009.
Since its beginning, the Boogie has been a
sell-out and huge success, bringing many
dancers back year after year to enjoy a unique
beach setting, great bands and callers and a
wonderful facility on the coast of North Carolina.
Great food, with vegan dishes
available at every meal.
The “Boogie” is always
geared to intermediate and
advanced dancers and is
gender-balanced.
Please join us and the
interesting mix of dancers
from all over who come to
enjoy this great setting for
a holiday getaway. You can even make it a
“mini-vacation” by adding nights to your stay
at very reasonable rates.

The Trinity Camp and Confer-
ence Center is a beautiful facil-
ity nestled into the
maritime forest between the
sound and the sea on a North
Carolina barrier island at Pine
Knoll Shores.
Its contemporary building
“pods” offer private double and triple occupancy
rooms with private baths and a central living room
area in each cluster. A dining room serves great
home-cooked meals (including vegetarian selec-
tions). Dancing is in a light, airy recreation building
for dancing and toasting the New Year!
Guests can also opt to make it a long weekend with
an extra night or two to better enjoy bird watching,
walks on the beach or just relaxing with fellow danc-
ers. (See notes below.)

The Band . . .
THE AVANT GARDENERS NC favorites, fiddler and vocalist Laura Light, George
Paul on piano and Loren Oppenheimer, master player
of the tabla (Indian drum) on percussion.
The deep grooves of the band's mixture of traditional
and composed tunes have contributed to the delirium
of dancers at countless dances and concerts from coast
to coast and now at the Boogie!
Their range of performing styles from traditional
swing, Celtic and old time and their smooth improvisa-
tion on fiddle, piano, guitar, mandolin, and percussion
have given this group their reputation as one of the
premier contra and swing dance bands in the country.
Funky, homegrown and hot!
The Caller… DIANE SILVER (Asheville NC)
"I have a pretty strict rule about not spending more
time in the car than on the dance floor. After 23 yrs
of dancing, I've violated it once. My motivation: One
of my favorite bands paired with Diane Silver's calling.
It was well worth the 15 hour round-trip drive."
- Greg Rohde, St. Louis
Sound Tech: Tom Roberts
The Dance Playshop (Monday afternoon) . . .
Actually just another chance to dance and experiment
with some squares and a mix of other dances. Purely
for fun.
Late Night Fun: Whatever floats your boat …
Games and snacks in your “pod‟s” living room, join a
jam session in another pod, moonlight walk on the
beach, or just rest your tootsies and snooze it out….
Yes, I want to Boogie in the
New Year on Dec 31, 2012!
