TRAINEESHIPS what is a traineeship?

traineeships prepare young people aged 16-24 for their future careers by helping them to become ‘work ready’.

they provide essential work preparation training, english and maths skills and work experience they require to get an apprenticeship or to progress to further learning. a traineeship can last up to a maximum of six months.

employers are not required to pay the young person but may support learners with expenses such as, transport and meals.

traineeships are very flexible and tailored to the needs of the employer and the individual.

for more information regarding traineeships go to www.gov.uk and search traineeships.

AGE GRANT (APPRENTICESHIP GRANT FOR EMPLOYERS OF 16-24 YEAR OLDS)you may be eligible for a grant worth up to £1,500 if:

• you are a small to medium sized employer (employing less than 50 employees)

• your apprentice is aged 16-24

• you have not employed an apprentice in the last 12 months

the apprenticeship grant for employers of 16-24 year olds (age 16-24) supports businesses that would not otherwise be in a position to recruit learners aged 16-24 into employment through the apprenticeship programme.

for more information visit www.gov.uk and search Age grant or call the national apprenticeship service on 08000 150 600 or alternatively contact your local training Provider.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

A training organisation, college or university will support an employer to:

• identify the apprenticeship that fits your business requirements

• help to recruit an apprentice

• develop a training plan which reflects the apprentice and employer requirements

• support the delivery of the training programme, carry out assessments and deliver training

* members with varied courses but do not offer apprenticeships or traineeships
